2014 Australian GT Championship
So 2014 is here... and while the B12 is the immediate focus, it seems that there are a number of cars & teams due to run in the (inter?)national GT championship that we might not have seen before...
Erebus seems to have committed a car to the series Here |

Thinking of the B12 Vitaphone situation got me thinking as to why we haven't seen a Z4 in the championship yet. I'm guessing they'd be a bit more expensive then the Audi and Ferrari but cheaper than the Mercedes, still wondering why we haven't seen one down here yet whilst we seem to have most other FIA GT3 cars that have been around for a few years now like the BMW.
Good to see Erebus commit to the championship and with another young talent similar to Lebroq who did so well last year. |

I don't think anyone has the in with BMW like Erebus had with AMG. Apparently they've been approached but sending one down here was not high on the priority list.

I'd love to see one of the new Bentley's race down here - especially at the 12 hour.
Not on the eligibility list this year - but maybe for 2015. |

No, I think they had their first run in Dubai late last year before a larger program this year. It's run by M-Sport and they look great.

So the contenders will be the Quinn's, Edwards, Salmon, Muscat, McMillan and who else ? Looking a bit thin on quality again.

Erebus have yet to confirm if they'll run a second car.
I suppose they might have to, if they're required to keep Mr Engel in a seat. |

Not necessarily... Erebus is more likely to run one car in Asia and another locally for their paydriver.. so Mr Engel may end up in Asian GT... Or not..

Pete has sold the Audi, and will run a 997 GT3 Cup in AGT Challenge Category, GT3 Cup Challenge and state level rounds. He also has a Radical which he is going to share with his son. Better value for money and more flexibility in where he can race and when than with the Audi.

Reliability is still a large question mark with many issues not yet resolved. That car has n't had problems but it's also done bugger all running and the QUinns are not known for scheduled maintenance.
Car speed is also a bit ho-hum without the extra letter on the tyre compound. We''ll see, I'd enjoy being proven wrong. |
