Stolen race car

The Hardman open wheeler (shown in Rallycross mode above as caught by Sonic) which competed at the Winton FoS meeting recently and the trailer it was in were stolen from Rowville (Melbourne) recently.

The trailer was found in the Pakenham area yesterday stripped so the car and all the spares are still missing.

Please keep an eye out for the car or parts from it in your travels please folks.

Some extra details on the car from owner Rohan Carrig.

A little more info about my car.

1980 Hardman Australian Formula Two.

This car is the second of three built by Jim Hardman at workshops at Calder Park and is the only one remaining of the three. Number 1 was Richard Davison's Championship winning car, ours is number 2 that was owned by Clive Millis and number 3 was Peter Larner's

It is constructed of an aluminium monococque with a space frame at the rear to carry the engine and gearbox, with removable fiberglass bodywork and aerodynamic wings front and rear.

It is fitted with a 1600cc VW Golf engine with 48mm twin weber carburetors which produces approximately 185 horsepower.

The gearbox is a Hewland 5 speed with inboard brakes.

Ventilated front discs, AP calipers both front and rear, near new floor. Adjustable “GAZ” shock absorbers front and rear.

It has been owned by us since 1994, Winner of 1998 AF2 championship. (Sportsman Division - for aluminium constructed cars) Rebuilt in 2005 and again 2013 it has a full documented history of each race meeting it has competed at since 1994.

In the trailer was a complete spare racing engine including clutch and distributor that has not been used since complete overhaul.

15 spare ratios and dog rings, all in a ratio box.

Three sets of wheels all mounted with tyres.

Spare front nose and wing assembly.

Complete set of spare suspension, plus a long list of other spares including, starter motor, clutch assemblies, engine components.

Quick lift jacks for front and rear, “A” frame car stands, Car lifting gantry.
