Hmmm, NASCAR/IRL Making News?

Found this on paddocktalk:

'Interesting News' Coming for NASCAR and IRL

The Winston-Salem Journal is reporting the following:

And France (Bill France Jr.) said the ISC could have some interesting Indy-car news in the next few weeks. Tony George's Indy Racing League has been struggling. The France family's ISC has a major interest in a viable IRL.

A second story reported this tidbit:

And he did offer the tease that some Indy-car news might be breaking out in Phoenix later this month at the Copperworld Classic.

Any news involving Bill France and the IRL has to be good. I wonder whats up, common engine formula, advertising and promotion? What do you think?

We'll have to keep our ear out for this...

Anyone else have any news on the Nascar / IRL rumor.

This could be interesting.

Nothing yet muggle, but I'm looking.

Some possible scenarios I think are possible:

1)the IRL teaming up with Grand Am on race weekends to increase driver crossovers, thereby boosting attendance and ratings.

2)I've mentioned this before, and I like the idea. A similar or common engine formula for both the IRL and Grand Am, which would thereby give teams a chance to run in both series. GARRA has a great engine formula that could work for IRL. It could really bump up the numbers for the IRL to.

3)The ISC buys the IRL outright, and runs them in tandem with both Grand Am and NASCAR, ensuring a strong and viable IRL.

We could be seeing the "Big 3" of American auto racing on the way. I had predicted something like this was coming quite awhile ago, so lets see if it pans out here...

Certainly intruiging times lie ahead on this one.

I'm watching it with interest.

Call me silly, but that just looks wrong - the ISC does not run NASCAR. The France's do.

If anything, NASCAR runs ISC, since it's the older company (and the one that made the France's so extremely disgustingly powerful)

As for the topic, thanks for the info - it will certainly be interesting to see how this develops, for sure.

Interesting scenarios. One problem that I would see of Nascar, Grand Am, and the IRL running together would be where would that leave Busch. Are you suggesting that the IRL could run some races with Grand Am and some others with Nextel Cup.
