Amaroo Park should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Mini Cooper S

At the moment I have been lent a new Mini Cooper S from one of the dealers we deal with at work. What a ball tearer!!!!

While it has very little room in the back the front is extremly roomy. But that supercharged engine and the way it handles is bloody fantastic. I have gone through Galston Gourge faster than I have before in it.

Shame it's such a nervous little thing under heavy braking. And a small boot too.

Yeah but when it's not yours and your driving it like you stole it, WHO CARES all cars will seem good unless they are really ordinary like the new Holden Combo I HAD to drive the other night

What sort of price are Cooper S's in Aus?

I had a deposit down on one, but when I had a test drive and looked at the price that one with some options added (being a BMW you don't even get a radio as standard), £18k, I got my money back.

They're getting rave reviews in the UK press, and I want one!!

BTW, the Hartage tuned version of the S got a ***** review in this month's Evo (the magazine that, as you may have gathered, I trust implicitly on such matters!!).

Seriously, I almost forget that the profits are syfoned off to Germany!!

They're about $40K Aus. They've got rave reviews here too.

If I had $40K for a car, it'd definitely be on my shortlist.

Considering a TV antenna only just fit into my Impreza, a Mini would have been stuffed. Actually, just the stuff I had to take to Bathurst would have left no room for the driver or passenger...so it's a touch too small for me. That and I'd have to get Sat Nav just to move the tacho from the centre (damned ADRs).

Moff, leg room is only in the front.

Colinbond, I had one for a test drive and drove the thing like mad. It went really really well, if a little off down low...which is only to be expected in a 1.6, even with a s/c.

The Schnitzer version gets a panning in this months Evo. Get the Hartage verison instead. More powerful and a more professional job, apparently (and far cheaper). Schnitzer make a hash of things.

It's because even superminis come with airbags left, right and centre, as well as side impact bars, aircon, electric windows, sunroofs etc. I also think that manufacturers make each generation of a car larger so they can claim more interior space.

They said on Top Gear that the latest top-of-the-range VW Golf R32 weighs exactly twice what a 1977 Golf GTi did.
