Wow! Junior's driverside impact was one of the hardest I have ever seen!

What a hit!!!! I guess this shows how far NASCAR has advanced in safety over the past few years. I am afraid that blow would have killed Dale Jr without a HANS device and all the side restraints they have in the cockpits now.

It was a heck of a hit-
I held my breath until he climbed out of the car.
Then when he doubled over, it scared the poo out of me.
Glad both he & Kevie Are OK.
I do have to agree that a hit like that would have caused alot more injuries if not for the safty measures they have taken.

I got the impression, after they interviewed Happy, that Happy felt it was Jr.'s fault???? If that's what he thinks, I have to totally dis-agree. Happy turned into Jr.

The impact reminded me of Dale Sr's crash !!!

It was a HARD impact and the "wrong" kind of impact too, almost head-on to the wall.
DW started getting concerned about the impact which really alarmed me !
When the in-car camera was first shown, Dale Jr wasn't moving !
I was so relieved to see Dale Jr move !
I know that Dale Jr was injured but I am so glad that he survived !
It really scared me for a while there.
To tell the truth I cussed "Happy" for being so stupid and trying to turn down pitroad from the middle of the track !
"Happy" need not try to blame Dale Jr, we all know who's fault it was !
"Happy" did a very inconsiderate, ignorant, and dangerous move ! (again !!!)
A lot of people have slammed Steve Park and said he was dangerous, and maybe he was when he first came back but I am developing that kind of an opinion about "Happy".

Is there a "right" kind of impact?

No good impacts that I know of ....

Good Point Tim, all impacts are potentially dangerous.
I feel that the "head-on" is the worst type. JMO

Yes, if you are going to have an impact, the best is passernger side since there is plenty of crushable space to absorb the blow.

I think Tim's question was rhetorical!

Hey, SteveA! Welcome to the NASCAR forum at 10 Tenths!

Yes, it was a rhetorical question. When it comes to wrecks, I usually think in terms of "not so bad", "bad", or "reaaaaly bad". Somehow "right" or "wrong" never even occurs to me. But Stan and Joe are right, head on is the worst, and a side hit would be better.
