Rydell, Menu, Cleland, Kox & Colciago will drive Volvo S60

Volvo is starting a new single make series next year, Volvo S60 Challenge, in Sweden. Volvo S60's will be used, of course, with turbo charged engine with 265 hp. The engine is 2.3 litres, the cars will run on slicks with 18" alloy wheels, the dampers are adjustable Öhlins and all of the cars will have adjustable rear wing and front spoiler. The series will replace the JTCC (Junior TCC, Volvo S40's) and the big difference, except the cars, is that there is no longer an over age limit.

A race of champions, with the Volvo S60 challenge cars, will be run at the same time of the penultimate STCC race this year the 2:nd September. And Volvo has managed to get an impressive number of famous touring car drivers. Three previous BTCC champions, Rickard Rydell, Alain Menu and John Cleland. The Italian Roberto Colciago will drive in one car, as will the Dutch Touring Car ace Peter Kox. A large number of skilful Swedish drivers will also take part, Janne "Flash" Nilsson, Thed Björk, Daniel Haglöf, etc. Previous Ferrari F1 driver Stefan Johansson will probably also drive one S60, but to this date it is still uncertain. This race will eventually be broadcasted on TV, but same here, no word yet when or where. This race will most certainly be worth looking forward to! Stay tuned for more news, reults etc!

Oh bugger! When I looked at the title I thought this was Volvo's ETCC line-up, with JC especially!!!!

So is this engine simply a road version, because 2.3 litres and 265bhp doesn't seem adventorous when you look at our 2 litre 270bhp BTC-Tourers. 18-inch wheels. Good!

I hope the TV programme manages to get over to the UK, cos' all the car specs' sound good!

Got you there didnt I Anyway, it will be an interestning race.

The engine is almost standard, some alterations have been made, like in the turbo. Though it differs only 15 hp from the road verision; T5

Tell me about it! Opel may have qualified the best they have this season but don't get any illusions-in the dry they are still way off the pace. I just don't understand what has happened to cause sucha turnaround from championship-challengers last year to also-rans this year.
