BTCC - Brands - ticket delivery problem
Hi!
I'm going to 2006 BTCC Brands Hatch race 8-9 April... I wanted to buy tickets online and I've got 'problem' with delivery... I don't know what delivery option I should check... I've got 3 options - Delivery Method: - Recorded (1.50Ł) - Secure Delivery (4.50Ł) - International Registered (7.50) Does Recorded mean, I get tickets on track? Or maybe they post me them? I don't understand it, sadly... anyone could tell me? |

Recorded doesn't guarantee delivery but it means you will need to sign for the tickets on the door step from the postman. Brands can claim upto £28 if they are lost.
Secure is basicly "Special" which means they arrive within 24hours of you ordering them. If they get lost Brands can claim compensation upto £250. Interational Registered are for those living outside the UK and again means they will need to sign for the tickets when they turn up on the door step. |

Don't count on compensation if they are lost. I've had Oulton Park tickets never show up despite being sent Special Delivery. When I phoned to complain the ticket agency MSV were using at the time (don't know if it's still the same one) told me that my contract with them only went as far as them posting the tickets. If they didn't arrive I needed to take it up with the Post Office. As that was after 5.30pm on the Friday before the meeting and the Customer Service dept had already gone home for the weekend the girl on the phone couldn't even give me a tracking number. When I called back after the weekend the Customer Service dept basically told me to get stuffed.
Just noticed you are in Poland, which means International delivery. If you are staying in a hotel you might be able to get them sent there, just let the hotel know in advance. Failing that you can still by on the gate. |

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy them at the gate rather than getting them posted?

thanks.
If I'll book tickets now I'll save £24 (2 'weekend' tickets)... It's enough for me... Also them will be sent to UK adress, so If I chose Secure Delivery I'll pay £55 instead of £74 (2 weekend tickets at gate).... I could have grandstand for 'free', if I book them... Should I pay for grandstand seat? or maybe only gate ticket? |

There's only one grandstand at Brands, at the top of Paddock Hill. It's normally free on Saturday. If you're lucky you may be able to buy Sunday tickets at the circuit on Saturday, by Sunday it will be sold out.
Personally I wouldn't bother. Brands is a pretty good circuit to spectate at and there are plenty of other places to sit/stand. You'll get a good view of the entire circuit from the grandstand but I alway feel you are a bit isolated from the action. I tend to walk around the circuit between races rather than stay in one place all day, so personally I wouldn't bother with grandstand tickets. BTW, if you need a timetable for the weekend - http://www.barc.net/timetables/2006TocaRound01.doc |

How ever, I saw the superbikes over the weekend and I noticed that there where some tempoary grandstands up across from the pits, not sure if they will be there by the time the BTCC hits Brands.

I think the same grandstands were up at the A1GP meeting last year. I paid online the £10 extra for a grandstand seat then, not realising until I got there that I was allocated a seat opposite the pits... so I didn't even bother to use it, as it wasn't the most exciting place to watch from.
The previous time I was at Brands (2004 F3/GT meeting) the Paddock Hill grandstand was free, but I agree with redshoes, that although it's a great place to see almost the whole Indy circuit, you do tend to feel somewhat detached from the action. |

Paddock Hill grandstand can be free, sometimes not, sometimes easy to blag. If it's only those grandstands up, which I'd expect it to be, it isn't worth it - you can stand at Paddock Hill and see the cars come through Paddock Hill and up to Druids, then see them come back down and round Graham Hill Bend.
Re temporary grandstands - sure someone here will know as it was the BTCC media day at Brands yesterday so people will have been there... |

Actually thinking about it (being blonde here)...they were there when I was last there (Brands BTCC Oct). Did like having that as well as the Paddock Hill ones...

I'd forgotten about the stands opposite the pit lane, but then I can't remember the last time I've been to a meeting where they were in use. I'd go by my origianl suggestion and not bother buying a grandstand seat.

No, but if you notice (ie from Brands BTCC at end of last year) - for example, there's five entrances to the grandstand but only three are covered. And quite often two chaps will walk along to talk to each other meaning five entrances and only two covered....it's very easy to get in without paying.
Note though - sometimes the lower entrances aren't covered but the ones where they open out into the grandstand are. |

Yeah, I'd recommend buying without grandstand, cos sure you'll find a way anyway.

You can't buy Saturday only tickets in advance, has to be Sunday or weekend. It's the same for all big MSV meetings.

Does anyone have a timetable for Friday? I'm assuming that, even though not advertised, the public can get into the testing day? (my ticket has a tear-off strip for Friday). Thanks.

jondownunder! I hope you got the timetable above? Entry should not be a problem. The BTCC/TOCA Press Day was last Tuesday, and the public were allowed in foc, even into the Pit Garages (Teams allowing)

Many thanks for the timetable
I was hoping to get up there for the afternoon, but I don't think I'll bother now as I'd only catch the SEATs... I'll be there first thing on Saturday though |

Yes, sorry for that but the BTCC teams carried out their Testing last Tuesday after the Media Presentation. They had 4 hrs; 1300-1700.

No problem, I was expecting it to be only the support categories anyway, but I was hoping to catch FRenault or FBMW in the afternoon, seeing as I'm travelling up there tomorrow anyway. Interestingly I saw at the BMW Motorsport site these times for Friday, posted yesterday:

I think that perhaps BMW have made a mis-print reading 1415 as 4.15pm! The timetable I have got is that issued for us working on the Circuit tomorrow. Also, FBMW had a full-days testing Monday 0900-1230 &1300-1700!!
