Channel 4...
For all the hype given the 30 minute nightly coverage on C4, there's remarkably little action broadcast. Subtract the footage from the service area, the studio and Jeremy, Jon & Penny's execrable pieces to camera, there cannot be more than 5 minutes of actual cars being shown.
Eurosport did it better. |

They need to do some explaning for casual viewers. However on Fridays coverage they did a 5 minute preview THEN went to the studio for more chat before we actually saw any coverage.

Channal 4s 1 hour coverage after the event is very good. All action and no studio comment. Trouble is its on at about 1.30am in the morning.

I think they should give more credit to the viewer (even the casual one!). I don't think that they need guiding through every aspect of the sport.
Show more action and get them interested. Even if you don't know anything about the sport it is still impressive to watch these cars adn drives flying through the stages. If people are interested then they can easily find out more and by watching it again and again will fill in the blanks. This is much more rewarding for the viewer and will result in a better and longer term fan. Maybe I am wrong, but surely not everyone who watches it is stupid? The Eurosport coverage is a lot better because you see Rally drivers driving Rally Cars much more. |

I suggest that we all write to C4 as the coverage is so poor. I could understand the need to guide new fans early in the year but by now people will either have got the rally habit, or stopped watching.

Don't complain via the C4 website. I did about their GT coverage and they just said 'sorry you didn't like it'. Yeah, the coverage is quite patronising for the initiated fan. I know the sport must open itself up to Joe Public but I find myself turning off at times. Also, why do they only focus on the Peugeots/Fords? What about the Skodas, Hyundais? What about the Super 1600, or don't they have the rights?
