simon c should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Rear end question!

Possibly one for the clever people out there, and may have been answered previously, but what is the purpose of the "blocked off" section either side of the venturi at the rear end of the new reg LMP1 and LMP2?

Mighty ugly.

The plates significantly reduce lift if the car swaps ends at speed.

As we have seen these plates on several cars recently, I keep looking at them and thinking they look as vulnerable as front dive planes. If one is knocked off in competition, they don't seem as though they would affect performance. They are blocked from direct frontal airflow, yes?

skycafe,

Where talking about the plates seen here:

I wouldn't think they were vulnerable as they are integral with the rear bodywork and would take a significant hit to remove (ie, a hit big enough that would take out the entire rear end).

Check out the Lucchini's:

Oh, I knew what they were, just seemed vulnerable if they got clipped, but indeed that probably would also damage associated structure and would require replacing entire unit.
