Motorsport News reports that CMS Motorsport are to enter a Ford Focus in the 2003 BTC-P for Nick Leason. Is this something to do with Hugh Chamberlaine's old team? Also, is this one of the ex-GR cars and, if so, which one?

They also report that GA are to run Paul Wallace - ex 2002 Clio Cup - in an Alfa 156 and that Tom Ferrier is likely to rejoin Edenbridge who will return in 2003 with rebuilt Bimmers.

The BTC-P is starting to shape up into something really quite interesting for next year. After campaigning for a split of the two classes I have to say I think ToCA have done the right thing in keeping the two classes running in the same race.

Surely not the same Nick Leason who was involved in that Barings Bank scandal :confused:
Good to see a Focus on the grid though, 2002 felt a bit empty without them!
Bit off topic, but does anyone know anything about a supposed one make Focus series possibly happening this year? I remember seeing something in Autosport but can't remember if I just made it up...

Not sure where you got Hugh Chamberlain from? Pretty sure it's nothing to do with him.

Paul Wallace didn't have a particularly good year in Clios but apparantly he put in some good times testing the Alfa.

Good to see Ferrier with a seat but he really deserves a shot at Touring. Usual finance (or lack of) situation I guess.

I've been a bit wooried about Production up to now, there's been virtually no-one commited yet. It's starting to look promising.

Macmillan "GO RACING" to provide vital cancer care

CMS Motorsport has joined forces with cancer charity Macmillan Cancer Relief to take on the best of British Motorsport in the 2003 British Touring Car Championship. The company will enter a specially branded Ford Focus Macmillan car in the championship (Production Class), which is considered to be the pinnacle of British Motorsport.

The team, headed by CMS's team principle Malcolm Cleland, will raise money by directly donating a percentage of their sponsorship to Macmillan. They will also hold two fundraising days with a difference. Based at one of the BTCC circuits there will be plenty of fast cars and celebrity drivers and the chance to drive some of the world's most famous Supercars. The year will end with an auction of Motorsport items from the year in the British Touring Car Championship.

Experienced European Lamborghini GTR driver Nick Leason, has signed to CMS for 2003 to spearhead its challenge in the British Touring Car Championship. His experience as a test driver is essential to the development of the car whilst his ability and race craft will be instrumental in the success of the team. Nick explains- "It has been my Career goal to race in the BTCC. Although racing in Europe is a great experience you can't beat the British fans and their enthusiasm. Do you have Ford Focus SVT's in Europe? If so, those would be perfect to race in either BTCC Production or Touring.

I didn't think it was anything to do with him or his old team but wasn't 100% sure. It is now confirmed that it's not and it is actually a team who previously competeed at club level - they must have just liked the team name!

The bloke who runs it is Malcolm Cleland. Maybe Cleland Motor Sport was too big to fit on the business cards
