Hanging isn't good enough for them.
Most likely nicked to order.

Hope that it's found in one piece soon.

Sorry to hear of your loss Ian.

Does the trailer have any distinctive marks etc?

Ian - sorry to hear about the car - I guess you hadn't had it that long ?
I'm pretty sure I saw it on the trailer at Silverstone on 8th Nov, was that with you ?
There is always the question of whether and how expensive it is to insue against theft of race cars and traliers. Keep your hopes up - cars have been nicked and recovered before.

Yes was at Silverstone that weekend. Racing both days in 8 clubs. Had the car 2 seasons only.

Splendid.

When is the public execution of the miscreant? Hanging isn't good enough for 'em!

Strangley enough, nick ten grands worth of car, get a slapped wrist, told not to do it again (Taking without the owners consent!), then throw a brick through a jewellers window, walk off with a three grand Rolex, and look forward to doing bird! Something is wrong with the system.

Presumably having had your car for the past five months, they've checked out the engine, sorted any problems, given it a respray, fitted new roll hoop and are planning to return it to you in better condition than it was when they "borrowed" it.

Hope it's OK and that you'll be racing soon.

Congratulations on recovering your car. Persuade the police to give you the names of the thieves...if they have anything to do with motorsport, publicising their names, perhaps on this forum will do them much more harm than the wrap on the wrist they will get from the courts.

Guy has nothing to do with Motor sport. He is banned from driving, police saw him, went to home to find car, asked to open his garage ...... and my car was in there !!!! , what luck !!

Driving Whilst Disqualified alone can attract a custodial sentence of up to 6 months. Coupled with theft, and the magistrates may decline duristiction due to value, this could go to the Crown Court for sentencing.

Depending on the tone of the pre-sentence report, mitigation, an eraly guilty plea, and the offender's antecedents, I would realisticly expect a spell of 3 to 4 months in chokey for our friend.

Was insured, but they refused to pay out. Had stored the car on the drive over-night, following returned from race day, prior to taking it to it's usual storage in local barn. Insurers pointed out an exclusion that said no cover whilst at home !!!, yet they are happy to cover it outside whilst at events etc. If I had left it down the road, unprotected, they would of paid out.

Thats interesting (not to mention very frustrating).......I had better check my policy which I think is theft (and maybe fire), and, damage in transit, to make sure I'm covered at home which is where mine spends most of its life in a garage.

Ok in garage, but not on the drive. Mine was behind a 2 foot wall and blocked in by my wife's SAAB, which they moved to get to trailer and car!!.

Got the Car back this morning: Missing Fuel pump, broken Gear lever, 2 damaged wheels and missing a few transfers. Probably not bad considering they had it for 5 months!. I hope the engine is okay.

....fingers crossed, you'll be out at the weekend then ! Hopefully it wasn't your car the police saw him out in.
This thread has certainly given plenty of food for thought re insurance and security, and hopefully it seems with a happy ending.

Ian..did you get the trailer back, if not I'm sure it will have a chassis number on it, which may be worth publicising..if it wasn't bought new the previous owner may be able to help.

Ian.. out of interest where was it it found?
I live near you and as we are hopefully having a new garage built, will be looking for a secure place to store & prepare my car and trailer whilst it is being built any ideas?
