I remember a lot of publicity when they stopped selling cars in the UK.
I wonder if anyone would buy one if they came back? |

How incredibly insane.
What would happen if they actually beat someone! |

I very much doubt anyone in Britain will buy one if they came back here, not exactly big sellers before when on sale here, cant see any reason why that might change. Plus there are plenty of other naff budget cars onsale here in Britain, Renault for a start

Nah, the Riva is the Lada...as in, the only one anyone's seen here...I didn't know they had a range!
Just like I never realised Robin made anything else but the Reliant! (Now, a S2000 Robin Reliant!) |

Great stuff if it actually comes off (remember the Lada WRCar....no?)
As an owner of a Lada Niva, i'd love something to support. At the moment the only things we've got going for us is a podium in the 1981 Paris-Dakar Rally, and Geoff Portman's Australian Off-Road Championship victorys. Glad to see the childish Lada jokes haven't reached this thread |

I was just about to start.
Yep Dani, we had a Riva saloon and a Niva Cossack 4x4 I think (I maybe made up the "Cossack" bit?). |

The "Cossack" bit is correct. There was a Niva and Niva Cossack. Not sure of the exact difference - I think the Cossack had more chunky arches, bull bars etc.
Hazard, Robin didn't make the Reliant, it's the other way around. Relient is the company, Robin was the model name. |

Lada, IIRC, used to run an international rally team back in the seventies. They used to do reasonably well in the RAC rally (in class) I think.
Other teams in those days included Skoda (of course) who used to clean up in class, and those delightfuly named Wartburg Knights, three cylinder two stroke machines... Don't underestimate their cars if they get their act together |

Mechanic "'Ave you got a slick tyre for a Lada?"
FIA "Yeah, thats sounds like a fair trade" Come on, unless they've come on leaps and bounds, i don't see the point. is there a russian touring car series? |
