PSA - group : any chance they will be back in sportscars?
The PSA-group (Peugeot & Citroën) decided to stop WRC after 2005. They will announce in due time the other serie they will enter. Do you think "the lion" will be back @Le Mans?

As Citroen is developing a new WRC it is a bit surprising |

PSA won't come back in endurance for a while because the V6 SODEMO didn't work as predicted and there is no french motor big enough to suit the rules with restrictors.
They said WRC is a best commercial vector. This is the official reason. |

Any WTCC program would be very low budget compared to the WRC and Le Mans.
F1 is out of the question also. I did have an e-mail a few weeks back saying there would be a French manufactuer returning to sportscar racing. It may be bull but but who knows! Regarding the engine, why does it have to be production based. The PSA group have a few F1 V10's lying around! Last edited by JAG; 4 Nov 2004 at 16:45. |

Why not put it in a Courage? And what was the type name of the Peugeot LM prototype? 905, so 907 makes sense Last edited by gwyllion; 4 Nov 2004 at 17:18. |

PSA confirmed on french medias that they weren't interrested by endurance ; the goal is to sale cars , and TCC is a better vector for them. So don't expect anything coming from France years to come, Renault include. |

I wouldn't mind seeing Citroen back in rally raids, They got some great history in that field dating back to the 1920's. Plus some more competition for Mitsubischi wouldn't hurt.

yes, we could say that the 907 is a GT "Prototype"... but then again, wasn't the Chrysler Viper R/T-10 of similar stuff in '89, or the Corvette C5 in '96, the Ferrari 550 Maranello in '98, the Saleen S7 in '97...
That very same caveat was made by Peugeot officials at the Paris show, that if sufficient interest was there to warrant it, limited production would go ahead. Also consider the present rules for the new GT1, as it would be quite the thing for this car, if it does see production. And as with Corvette Racing, which is done by Pratt & Miller, Aston Martin, which is ProDrive's 'baby', and others, these are done by Racing Engineering concerns rather than the Factory, which is quite the savings and the PR boost for the Manufacturers. Looking at the car itself, it's not too far from taking it from a show piece to production to Racer in an equivalent amount of time. http://www.autointell.net/Events/par...paris-2004.htm A few conventional changes for production and, voila! |
