Chevron B 7
I thought i'd start a new thread on the one off F3 car commisioned for Rodney Bloor in 1967.
Firstly it is said that the B9 was based on this car. Actually it differed in various areas. The main one being that when D.B. & Paul Owens built it Triumph front uprights were used along with different suspension geometry. Although Peter Gethin never won with it,fastest laps were posted. All i knew about the car was the engine was replaced for an S.C.A. prior to it being shipped over to the U.S. to Fred Opert & used as a F.C. car in 68. |

It seems as though the car is about to surface in the L.A. area of the U.S.
Apparently the gentleman has had the car for some years without properly knowing its lineage. So much so that whilst over in the U/K some years ago he sought advice from Messrs Andreasson,Malkie etc without any success. The road eventually led him to Paul Owens. After studying many photos which he brought with him,Paul recognised various features on the chassis which he personally manufactured whilst the Prototype was being constructed with Derek Bennett for Rodney Bloor. The car was originally purchased in the U.S. without any engine & gearbox, but with the correct suspension still intact( Also verified by Paul) At this moment in time the car is being painstakingly put back to its original F3 1 litre configeration, including correct Bodywork which slightly differed from the following production run of the B9s in 1968. |
