Well...at least Panoz won which im pleased about
This is good for the ALMS because the dominance of Audi has stopped...someone other prototype car won |

And what's even better, a three-year-old Panoz beat a state-of-the-art Audi! What a wonderful sight to see the manly Panoz LMP-01 back at the front of the grid. Can't wait for Mosport now!

At last, Audi have been beaten, and by an old Panoz! Still good to see the two Brits(Herbert and Wallace) come third.

I got to watch it last night and it was a really a really good race. Among American racers an old addage comes true once in a while, "There is no substitute for cubic inches". The Audi was fast but suffered from a lack of grip and a bad decision to keep on old tires and the Panoz made up for it with traction and a mountain of torque. Brabham drove excellently, pressured Kistensen into a mistake in traffic and drove the old 6.0 liter car very well.
One of the things that I love the most about sports car racing versus formula style cars or touring cars or stockers is the variety. The sleek and silky smooth mid-engined Audi's with their sweet sounding turbo 3.6 liter V8s are in stark contrast to the rumbling 6.0 liter front engined slingshots being raced by Panoz. I love the differences between them, the differences in grip were very obvious and the different racing lines were interesting to see as well. Also, the Saleen and Corvettes had an excellent race as well. Too bad the Ford engine let go in the Saleen, that race was going to close like the prototype cars. |

Simply a great race! For Panoz, The Vettes, and for Stuck / Said. Looking forward to Mosport.
