Shooting under floodlights
Have some stonking pics from the recent Busch & NASCAR races at Homestead recently-both of which started at 4pm local time and ended in the dark under floodlights. As the evening wore on the shutter speeds came down whilst the asa went up. Ended up shooting at 800asa at around 250/350th with no problems and little thrown in the bin fortunately. Colour corrections were needed as the daylight to floodlight came in using Photoshop but altogether ok without using flash other than during the pitstops (which is a hectic place...makes our SCSA pitstops look like toytown!). Be interested in what other people have shot at under these lights or similar conditions and at what speeds though doubt if such bright lights can be found in the UK. Maybe the Daytona 24hr boys would have some thoughts?

I end up using ISO 1600 and a shutter of 1/160th at F4 (70-200 F4L lens) on my 20D when I shoot from the stands at Wimbledon Stadium. So yes, those US floodlights look like they are brighter than Wimbledon`s at least!!
