Evans to miss BRC opener
Hi all,
Was talking to chris on tuseday, he said that he wont be out for the next round of the irish championship or the First few rounds of the BRC... The astra is currently being Rebuilt by bardy, he mentioned nothing about the micra acctuly (which is also suppose to be having the engine rebuilt) He said he was busy anyway with autotesting duties so! Never know he might appear out in that famous Orange Tigra! |

I'd be very surprised if Evans does miss the early rounds of the BRC.....would've thought that he'd be keen to defend his title.
I thought the idea of him using the Astra in the Irish rounds so far this year was to enable the Micra's engine to be rebuilt in time for the start of the BRC. Surely he's not going to purely race the Astra this year because the way Bardy has been talking, he said it would take until the British GP to carryout the full rebuild, RHD conversion and all??? I suppose we'll see in a month or so but it'd be shame if he doesn't appear. |

I know you've always got your ear close to the ground on these things rxie but it does seem a bit strange - that Micra is a lot of car (in £££) to have sitting there doing nothing, if Evans misses the early rounds what are the chances of him competing later in the year with the Micra? Would it be worth the effort? I hope Chris does make it out on track for the british championship - the more cars the better!

There is a number of people looking at the micra at the moment (2 individuals very keen to buy it for rallying), the astra is being rebuilt for october but chris dosent think he will go out. He is committed to his Autotesting this year in the westfield. We will also be launching evans.net Media, where media persons will have exclusive information and pictures of new developments to the respective cars.. |

Bad news on both counts then no Evans and no Micra. On the flip side of the coin the modified category doesn't have a clear favourite to win now - it'll be really tight this year

The of possible winners is pretty big assuming they all turn out this year the winner could be any of:
Collard - Ford Ka - Looked rapid at both winter Lydden rounds. Bellerby - Vauxhall Nova - Quick last year. Rogers - Vauxhall Corsa - Quick, well proven car. Wheatley - Austin Metro - Always quick. Howlin - Ford Fiesta - Cosworth power and a commited driver. Ward - Vauxhall Corsa - Good driver, possible new car? Tapscott - Vauxhall Nova - Quick, consistent. Dresser - Lotus Exige - Great off the line, more experience of the car this year. That's a pretty impressive line up really. I'd try and list the rest of the modifieds as well but I'm certain to miss loads out! |

Could be very open this year. Last year was dominated by Evans, which ended up being a bit
My top ten is; Wheatley - quick and very light Bellerby - quick and reliable Binks - looked really good at Brands Rodgers - lost his edge recentley Ward - if he decided to race, new car not ready Collard - no opposition at Lydden and wet track Tapscott - if reliable then up there Howlin - lacks Mannings commitment and speed Dresser - still new Harbour - should be quick when dry Clio Trophy's might be dark horse. Can't wait. This should be the best year of modified for a long time, proberbly since the Bardy and Newbold time. |

Don't forget that Phil Collard's Ka is driven by Dave Mountain this year. Any one of those winnie mentions could be champ. Consistancy with the speed will be the answer.

Anybody know about Mike Bourner's Renault5. Is it front or mid engine, or maybee he's put his Porche engine in the back! What has happened to the Porche?

Mike Bourner's Renault 5 is a mid-engined 1.6 but not sure of the engine manufacturer. It's similar to the cars that Roger Newbold and Kevin Pease used to drive in the early nineties. Then Newbold used a 2.4 Cosworth and i think Pease used a Vauxhall 16v of some size.
There was word around at Croft on Saturday that Bourner said he plans to rebuild the Porsche for rallycross pretty soon. |
