QLD Race Tracks?
No matter how many times they repave Lakeside, It remains very bumpy.
The first time they paved QR, it washed away, and not that the second attempt at it has settled, it is very bumpy. The Gold Coast Indy, no matter what they do, will always be bumpy. Was the old Surfers Paradise very bumpy? Do we have an awful lot of unstable dirt under our race tracks up here, or what? |

I don't know about Surfers being bumpy or not but I can remember the water filled canals around the circuit (in particular a good picture of a Mercedes-Chev sports sedan half in the water)...
And what about the long distance distance race that was red flagged after a pile-up at the back of the circuit after it rained ;-) Surfers, what memories like Bap Romano coming up the straight in the Coasworth Kaditcha :-) |

jhayden- Welcome aboard!
I've been reading through my old AMRYs the last few days, and that big pile up was in 1985. But gees, there were some big ones back at turn one...even Moffat hitting a tree stump in the Mazda. I shown a tape a while ago of a Gemini race there in the mid-80s....and half of the field rolled into those canals you speak of Sevi- yes, no and curious |
