I heard today that HRT are unveiling their new cars for 2001 next Tuesday 6th Feb. Has anyone else heard this or is it just a rumour. I sure hope they look great.

Larry Perkins new Castrol paint job is appaling. The red bonnet looks alright, but the green down the side! As for GRM, I don't know, it's just doesn't look quite right. |

To be honest I really dont mind the new Larry paintjob...
Kind of looks like a toothpaste container/pizza box/christmas tree... I still think Russell's 98 silver bullet rulled, as did the magnatec blue/green/aqua. Valvoline...hmmm...i agree...there is something wrong there, and i think all of their Commodores have had it... The best Valvoline paint job ever was the Robby Gordon/Walker Racing Reynard Indycar from 1995...if only that could be planted on a Commodore... |

I don't think much of the new Castrol scheme.
But I prefered the 2000 Ingall car, but only because the previous one had that black smudge on the bonnet that looked like it had an oil leak of some sort everytime it went past. |

Whilst the GRM and Perkins 2001 paint schemes aren't ugly they aren't exactly inspirational either.
Seems everyone is just using the same sort of idea of colours sloping up the car...can somebody please come up with something newish ? |

Crash, the Forbes car already had the baby poo brown didn't it. I know it was that trick paint but the red Standox would have been better. It always looked baby poo brown to me. I'll think of Larry's car as the toothpaste tube from now on also. I suppose all the paint schemes will grow on us as the season progresses.
Best I think anything by Stone Bros. or Cat is always well presented. Gibbo will probably put out something classy too. Worst I have never liked the DJR cars much or the Forbes "Poo". |

As long as HRT stick to their Red Baron colour I'll be happy.
Especially seeing as I have just taken delivery of my brand new VX Commodore in this colour ! |

I think the best will be:
HRT (they usually always look great) Worst: I can't decide there are a few crappy looking ones now eg: big kevs But I think Fred Gibson will bring out something that looks pretty awsome too. |

Quote from Crash test
Quote:
The Castrol cars look like a pizza box. They have never had a good paint scheme except for the silver bullet car. They are always very plain and uninspiring. As far as the good ones go Larko has always had good paint jobs (with excellent signwriters doing the work) , the Cat car is good as well as the stone brothers. Gatoraide is excellent Bad ones, Ant car with black wheels! Big kev, Asia online and colourscan wasnt real nice either |

I think the shell DRJ cars are shockers as well. Gatorade Commodore for being different and making it work. |

I don't mind the paint job, I especially like the front on shots. This is a precurser to what we'll all see on TV this year when they go to the "in car" shots looking out the back window from the Rat's number 18 Ford.

I really like the HRT paint job this year. Can't wait for DJR from what Crash has been saying too...
Anything is better than Perkins right now... |

I think the new HRT colours look great. Especially the way the lion flows over the bonnet. They were shown on channel 10, sports tonight. didn't show a lot of the car just enough to get a quick look, Mark Scaife seemed to hold the floor with his interview.
As to the DJR cars, I was down at DJR head quaters last week and the cars were in the workshop. The paint work dosen't look much different. But there was 3 cars. A brand new one that seemed to be getting heaps of attention, the Rats #18 car, and Steve's old one. Wonder if there going to run the 3 this year or if they will sell the old one off. |
