Barcelona Friday
First session:
Guess what? Mickey the Shoe goes out and beats his team mate by half a second. And a second quicker than Ant. Ten minutes to go. |

No suprises at the top of the times although there are really good times been put in by Davidson & Zonta to be in P3 & P4 at this stage.

Funny how MS talked about it being the toughest challenge this season yet and walks the competition AND his teammate in free practice so cleanly.
But then again, he's said that for past few races and won convincingly... Hmm, i have no doubt though that over the weekend, BAR/Williams would start to hound the Ferrari during sat prac/quals. |

The big difference between the red cars and the others seems to be in the final sector. Michelins expiring before the end of the lap again?

Don't people have short memories?
Comeon, think back two whole weeks! At Imola, Mickey was nearly a second quicker than Rubens and over two seconds quicker than everyone else in first practice, but DIDN'T GET POLE! Ferrari are always quick out of the box, but the others usually catch up a little on Saturday... I reckon pole will be nip and tuck between Michael and Jenson again, this time with Michael just edging it. |

Will that be a problem in the race, quals or both?

i think the reason ANT and Zonta have been so quick on Fridays is because the are running more REVS than the rest as they dont have to save their engines...

Oh! you old cynic ralf...it's most laps and more tyres actually! (Can't speak for Zonta)
ANT would have been quicker on his last run after setting 2 green sectors...but he got held up in sector 3 by...Takuma! of all people! Like your new fancy livery...and you "Didn't Walk"! Last edited by Rennen; 7 May 2004 at 11:24. |

No hes not...but other drivers and their managers are very pushy...Ant thinks his driving does 'ALL' the talking!...I'm not so sure it does?

Ferrari: as Garcon rightly points out, nothing new that the Rosse dominate the first session.
Competitors will surely catch up in session #2. Davidson and Zonta: really great laps, although of course testers don't have the worry of saving an engine, so it's obvious that they push harder than teammates. |

Yes no big shock that ferrari are at the front. What was the fastest lap around here in pre-season testing? Anybody know just to use as a yard stick. With both ferrari cars up front could it be that they really want an all ferrari front row for the race. They know that the BAR is pretty handy around here so ferrari could use little rubens to hold back the pack while michael runs away

Times are incredibly close right now... the difference between P5 and P17 is only 1 second...

Free sessions are becoming even more boring than races: once again both session virtually the same as last GP.
Everything so predictable! |
