I have looked into routes.

It's all the way over in the West of France, past Rennes and past St Malo.

Via Calais - about 5 and a half hours from Calais. Crossings are about £50-60 per car if you go on Saturday and come back Sunday. Beware that it will take a while to get back on Sunday. We aim to get the 12.45a.m Ferry on Monday morning. Le Tunnel stops at half 10 on Sunday, so unless you plan on guzzling your fuel, you won't make that in 4 hours (400+ miles).

Via St Malo - clearly much closer to the circuit, but will have to go overnight on the Ferry. In my case meaning time off work, which cannot do and probably more than £50-60 right?

Might as well post my comments from the below thread into this one. (Homologised like the BRC and ORC will be soon, controversial/optimistic). Who here is going as a spectator and have they already bought their tickets/can you only get them on the gates? I am just concerned that this will sell out and I will have got ferry tickets for nothing (apart from a two-day booze cruise to Calais).

Camping at the circuit???

Anyone know if there is camping at the circuit? I can`t find any mention of it on the track website.

I'm going, sleeping in a hotel 14 km from the track. As it's an ERC, and you should learn to enjoy that to the full extend of it, I'm leaving friday morning from Belgium, going back monday morning after a good night sleep and decent breakfast.
I usually do not sleep friday nor saterday as local cultural life in France needs to be explored too

In France there are no decent breakfasts available. Just a lousy bowl-o-coffee with a drowning Croissant…

Does anybody know if Christopher Evans is planning any ERC outings this year? He has entered the French round in the past, but can`t see him on the entry list for this years event.

Yeah he is, the car is on the way back together again after been a bare shell during the winter with lots of new development happening, TBM is waiting for some new gear still to be made, and he hoped be out for Hungary but looks like Austria or Norway is going to be the first. Then its flat out from there on. New truck looks awesome too.

last minute panick

Any ten-tenthers visited this track before? And know if there is camping at the track, as with essay and mayenne. My only chance to spectate this event is if I arrive and some unsocial hour in the middle of the night - okay for putting a tent up near the track, but not for checking into a proper campsite or finding any other accomodation?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I havent been to this particular french track although of the 4 others I have visited there is always camping facilities as the french usually turn up with about 800 motorhomes. Wouldnt worry too much if I was you just get there and enjoy oh and dont expect too much sleep and make sure you are up early on sunday morning to get a good viewing point as all the chairs from the day before will have been chained to the fence!

Thanks, I had the lack of sleep lesson 3 yrs ago at essay - with the reving R5 turbo next to my tent, that never seemed to stop throughout the night, then last year when someone just turned up with an engine on a trailer that they could rev all night!

As its the erc, your right that it worth the gamble!

I am pretty damn excited about this now! Will be getting the first Ferry from Calais tomorrow and aim to get to the track by 2 (in time for the Timed Practice etc). I realise this is a bit late, but am assuming that we will get in no problem and still be able to buy weekend tickets, even if we are not near the front of the crowds?

Managed to get a BnB in St Brieuc. Its been a while since I went camping and with the mad rush to get to the circuit before the sun comes up, we didnt want to be messing around trying to collapse the tent and pack it away!

What time should we be aiming to get to the track? I was thinking of 7 at the latest Sunday morning!!

Look forward to seeing you all there and supporting the Brits (and Irish). Would be a shame if the rumours of Pat pulling out are confirmed. Oh, and the weather forecast looks amazing. Been a while since I had to pack suncream for a RX meeting!

Got back from France in the very early hours of the morning today and loved it. Great experience, and def keen to go to Belgium and maybe others this year.

Thought that the Brits (including GT, JMC and Tohill) put a good show. Mad Mark, I thought that you had pace until put in the wall in the first heat. My brother spoke to you and was told that this caused you problems for the rest of the weekend? And kevin Proctor did well in the second heats. The first person to pass on the back straight (where we stood), which was very impressive. And Tohill was very unfortunate, he looked a good bet to reach the A finals.

I was really staggered by the quality of competitor throughout, to think that the Brits and some of the scandanavians in the peugots didnt get into the finals (nor the crowd pleasing Chartrain in the Clio) makes me think they could go down to E finals without taking anything away from the quality. I was shocked to see the Clio of Meslier in the A final. Read the official times and he won the first heat? Didn't look that way. Must be the result of the fastest competitors being put in the same heats. That seemed daft. Surely the point of qualifying is to put the best with the worst (no disrespect meant).

One comment I would make is that, having seen how Kerlabo dealt with having to separate the start from the circuit (ie an armco barrier) there is no reason Lydden couldnt do this between Paddock and the Start grid. Also, people have slated Lydden for its run-off, or lack of. But Kerlabo had none, at all!! Having said all that, Pat may want to invest in a few fields for parking and paddock!! Reckon the parking space alone was the size of Lydden!

Anyway, had a fantastic weekend, and enjoyed basking in the sun, not cowering from the snow!!
