Strange Toyota Rumour!!!!!!!!!

Look guys I don´t know how creditable this rumour is, however somebody from the PDLR forum says, that he was the other day at a Panasonic Presentation held in Montmelo, and he swears that Ove Andersson said that they will be announcing a new big signing within the next 2 or 3 weeks. Speculatins in that forum have developed like a snowball and after analyzing the situation it really makes sense. Frentzen doesn´t have a drive yet, Jacque is not happy, Flavio wants to get rid of Button. So maybe the silly season is still having a big surprise for us.

PS: I d like to point out that I am acting as a messenger, so please don´t start discrediting cause you don´t want it to happen or you desagree, thanks.

Poor McNish...but hey, that's life. The guy's pretty much over the hill.

And those new seats do look rather spiffing...would like to see it happen.

Ya like all this is gonna happen in the next few weeks. Maybe, just maybe, Jos will sign up as test driver for Toyota when HHF takes his seat.

McNish - jesus, give the guy a chance!! this break is well overdue.

Personally, I think they should all stay as they are. Let HHF go home to Germany and retire. He's past it anyway. Jos will race better than HHF if he's left at Arrows.

Could you imagine it being Rory Byrne or Adrian Newey? What a coup that would be!

Oh yes, it would. A coup. But no, I cannot imagine something like that!

(Hmmm, but either of them would be a BIG signing nonetheless.)

I would think it would more likely be a new sponsor. At the F1 launches this week and last, Briatore is very firmly behind Jenson and so I don't think the rumours of him being dumped are even close to the mark.

OK OK OK, I know this is going to sound REALLY big headed, but just because LucaBadoer beat me to the post by THIRTY SECONDS doesn't make his theory any more plausible. I would argue mine was far more likely (likely?? What am I saying?! Oh you know what I meant... um... PLAUSIBLE, that's right!!)

Do you actually know anything about Allan McNish or F1 in general? And no. I'm not biased because I am British - my fave drivers are JPM and JV.

McNish is arguably driving at his best ever - still only 31 and outpacing M.Salo in a number of tests this year - not bad for an over the hill rookie! To say he is over the hill is a ludicrous comment to make by any standards, espcially when considering the sport still finds a home or the likes of slow journeymen like Frentzen, Irvine, Bernoldi, Yoong etc.

Frentzen to Arrows
Verstappen to BAR
Villeneuve to Jag
PDLR to Toyota
Alonso in at Renault
Button and McNish buy up what's left of Prost and run themselves in that...

Interesting. Could cause some real problems if there are any swaps.

All the secrets would be out.

How are the new tyres, engine chasis, electronic gizmos?

I can not see any last minute changes

That's a very stupid question.

Obviously his best ever isn't quite good enough. He is over the hill. The sport is leaning towards very young chargers with lots of talent or money.

Frentzen? Irvine? Salo? All over the hill. But they're proven and still have pace. Salo could be a great surprise this year.

McNish is too far gone in a long drawn-out career to be scrabbling around with guys 10 years younger than him for a few points. 31 - should be fighting for a title at his age.

You know the reason of course, that F1 finds a home for men like Bernoldi or Yoong - they have money. What does McNish have going for him, except that he's desperate enough for an F1 driver that he'll spend a year pounding around Paul Ricard in a midfield dull-as-dishwater racing car?

I can't see the rumours being about the driver line up. McNish goes back a lot further with Toyota than Salo who doesn't have that much of an impressive CV (overated in my opinion)

Toyota have had a hundred chances to sign HHF and haven't done, if he wasn't good enough for Jordan why should he be good enough for Toyota?

JV is on an yearly escalating salary with BAR agreed by Pollock when he joined, and is very unlikely to get the same terms elsewhere - even at Renault. JV know's he can't leave BAR without facing a massive pay cut.

You know how they like to 'bull up' everything in F1 and announce almost every item seperately (livery launch, car launch, etc). Its probably that Toyota have signed a truckie from Arrows......

Briatore doesn't have a choice but try to boost up JB. What he is going to say: "JB is a bad driver with not enough experience BUT we're going to keep him anyway"!!!NO he is stuck with him until next year so he butters him up to try to get the best out of him for one more year. Even though I would like to see JV at Renault it's not possible this year (JV losing too much $$$$). I think that the silly season is over and everyone will stay put. HHF will take a year "sabatical"
