Dyson to contest Mosport, MO ALMS rounds

http://www.speedvision.com/pub/artic...d/010813a.html

Excellent news, a top privateer team taking their shot at the factories. Hopefully, this will enoucrage others to as well. I'd like to see the Field Lola contest some more ALMS races, it was decent at Sebring, but you can't expect to have any improvement unless you race in the series week in and week out(see Cadillac).

Interesting development, especially considering Rob Dyson is one of the owners of the Grand Am (France) series.

I'll be there this weekend so will let you know how it goes. Personally I can't imagine how they can compete, but we'll see. [If they do, look for more Grand Am people to cross over and Bill France to step up the anti-Panoz propaganda big time.]

Liz, hopefully you will have a better turn out of cars at Mosport than there was in Portland -- if it hadn't been for the GT class, there wouldn't have been any reason to watch.

We have 2 Works Audi, the Gulf and Champion Audis, two Panoz LMP Roadster S, the two works Cadillacs, That one that starts with "C" that I can never remember, the Pilbeam, and a whack of GTS and GT cars. It will be an excellent field!

The race at Mosport was wonderful even if it did rain on Race Day again! We spent a lot of time chasing drivers and got nearly all their autographs in our Le Mans Entry Lists (of the ones who were at Le Mans).

And the Dyson people were outstanding and the car was competitive in the extreme. In fact when we went by Dyson looking for Butch to get him to sign as a Bentley Boy (having got Andy Wallace earlier), the mechanics said, "He's in the trailer eating lunch, stick your head in and yell BUTCH! and he'll come out." And he did, too!

James Weaver was there wearing a team shirt in a fetching pink with lime green lettering. It was a gift, he explained, so he had to wear it once. I took his picture in it. Fetching really. (NOT). The Dyson car finished 5th and Butch said they had expected to be four seconds off the pace and were overjoyed to be right up there all the time.

They should dump the Grand Am series and run the ALMS. The new R&S isn't that bad a car.

It's an excellent car and right on the pace. Plus it has a very good engine that really sounds like a race car.
