Jarno Trulli Disqualified

Poor Jarno - a rear wheel has got him disqualified. Gee that bloke has rotten luck. Let's hope things work out at Renault for him. I mean, every time he's in a points scoring positon, the engine explodes, he crashes, gets knocked off or something. It's unbelieveable. Johnny Herbert was luckier.

Quote:
Jordan's Jarno Trulli received another blow after it was discovered his Honda powered EJ11 had broken technical regulations after finishing in a strong fourth place in Sundays American Grand Prix. The Italian driver was disqualified from the event due to the final decision from stewards who declared the rear wheel of his car was in breach of the strictly imposed Formula One regulations.

The three points Trulli had secured were very important as it elevated the Jordan outfit ahead of rival BAR in the championship standings with one race to go. However, due to the disqualification, teammate Jean Alesi moved into sixth place, salvaging one point out of the weekend and putting them on an equal 17 points with BAR instead.

This new development also sees Nick Heidfeld move up into fifth place with an extra point that sees now ahead of Jacques Villeneuve and Trulli in the drivers championship. Meanwhile Eddie Irvine scores a fourth place finish for Jaguar, the extra point putting them equal seventh with the Renault powered Benetton team.

It is still unknown if Jordan will appeal the decision.
The only good thing to come out of this is a point for Jean Alesi. What a good present for his 200th race.

Trulli

Autosport say it was a worn skidblock. Jordan are to appeal.

Jordan just can't seem to get anything right this year can they.

Soldier on EJ and Jarno, soldier on.

I know the rules are the rules, but for pity's sake that's not Jarno's fault! Deduct the team points. Their fault. Stupid mistake. Never happen again. But not JT's.

Well that figures .

Jarno has had probably the worst luck of any driver all season long, and then finally he gets a strong points paying finish to rewards all his efforts and frustrations. I just KNEW that it was to good to be true.

What's considered unlucky for an Irishman, because EJ's team has had the worst luck since 1999.

What's considered unlucky for an Italian, because Trulli has never had good luck at all....

There I was at 6am in the morning, cheering the fact JT had managed to finish a race, then I read that he's been DSQ!! Poor, poor, poor Jarno Trulli. Perhaps things will look up when he joins Renault, but who knows........

Jarno is easily F1's unluckies driver, only 2 weeks ago I think I ran off a whole list of his misfortunes, now add this one. I hope his appeal is successful as its an amazingly minor infraction, and scarcely a performance boost.

Just imagine if all of his bad luck turns to good luck next season - he'll be world champion!

worn Jordan at Indy

Trist,

but the unfair advantage of Trulli's car 'may' have helped him better his placing. therefore deduct his points as well.

also, Alesi wants to know if he's driving in 2002

Has there been any more news on why the skidblock was worn, and what the Jordan appeal will be based on? I watched the second Friday practice from turn 13, and all the cars were bottoming out and wearing off the skidblock. The burning smell was almost overpowering, and brown, parallel "tram lines" were being etched into the racing surface. Also, the rumble strip at turn 7 was taking chunks out of the underside of any cars that ventured wide. Was the wear on Jarno's skidblock something that happened over several days -- and so should have been noticed by the team -- or did it happen during the race itself?

worn wood

maybe the 9º banking of the 2 straights had something to do with it as cars might not have been stiffer on the left side.
also heavy fuel loads for the 'quick' 90min run as well.
