[BTCC] 2020 Predictions Thread

Ideally predictions are kept to five (although feel free to add a second set of five), and then we can compare and contrast our accuracy at the end of the season.

So what are your predictions this year?

1) Plato wil moan about RWD and/or TOCA engine
2) Turkington will get at least 2 shoves during season
3) Turks, Jordan, Tingram and Cammish will be in title contention come finale
4) Neate will be involved in at least one major accident
5) Hamilton will idle at the back possibly with 0 points at the end

Sorry going for 6...

1. Andy Neate will be out of Motorbase by Snetterton and won't be replaced
2. Shedden will start the season in place of Neal
3. Sutton will not have a happy time with the Infinity, will stay the season but will at some point claim/hint Aiden is getting preferable treatment
4. PMR will not score a podium this year
5. BMW will start dominant and be pegged back by Thruxton which leads to a massive drop off.
6. Hamilton will get a surprise top 10

Teams:Wsr
Ind Teams: BTC

Proper Stuff

• Overall Champ = Jordan (though I'd prefer Cook)
• Teams Champ = WSR
• Indy Champ = Cook
• Indy Teams - BTC
• JST - Boardley (still reckon that car could win races in the right hands)

Side Bets

• Sutton will win a couple of races but have a disappointing year.
• I'm going to say JP will beat Mat over the season but it will be close
• Hyundai will win a reverse grid race, probably with Smiley
• Crees will not fare well against Cook and Chilton
• Neate will not finish the year

My predictions are gonna be lame as heck probably.

1) The main Championship will be Tingram Vs WSR Vs most of the FK8 Civics
2) Hill will win at least twice and this time, each one will count.
3) Butcher will keep the Focus in the hunt for wins and the Independent's title.
4) At least one podium from any one of Crees, Osborne, Boardley, Jelley, OJ and the Audis.
5) MJ to be top PMR driver once he's up to speed
6) The Hyundai's to score a win in the second half of the season.
7) The Infiniti will win at least once.
8) Sutton to be an outside contender for the Independent's title, along with Thompson and OJ.
9) More than 10 different winners though none from Team HARD.
10) Plato will come close to but still fall short of 100 Wins.

That's enough before I get carried away.

1. Plato will reach 100 wins but Jackson will beat him in the drivers' championship.
2. If Neate manages to not finish last in the drivers' championship, it will be by a single-digit number of points.
3. The new Focus will win a race in the first half of the season.
4. Exactly 2 races will finish behind the safety car or be red-flagged and not restarted.
5. Gornall will finish on the podium at least twice.

1 - Rom Ingram will be champion.
2 - There will only be one full season driver not to register a point.
3 - Bobby Thompson wins the JST and gets at least 1 podium finish.
4 - Mat Jackson wins more races than Plato.
5 - Josh Cook is the highest placed Honda.

I'm glad this is back!

1. Sutton will have a disappointing season and won't be in a title contention.
2. Neate won't finish the season.
3. Jordan won't be as strong as last year and won't finish inside the top 3.
4. Cammish will be moaning about BMW's advantage - possibly will be joined by Neal.
5. Jake Hill will have a great season and finally will break into top 10 of the overall standings.

2. At least one of the scheduled nine rounds has 20% of the grid missing.
3. No spectators at any event this season.
4. The new Hyundai does not achieve a top 10 this season.
5. Andy Neate does not complete the entire season.

2. Tom Ingram continues developing the Corolla and takes many wins but just comes up short for the title
3. Colin Turkington wins another title
4. Tom Oliphant wins a race
5. Andy Neate struggles at the back apart from one random race where he runs about 5th before spinning out on the last lap
6. Andy Neate leaves Motorbase
7. Dan Rowbottom has another season of doing absolutely nothing
8. Nic Hamilton is even more off the pace than 2019
9. The FK2 is still competitive and takes multiple wins
10. In a rain affected race Michael Crees takes a podium

1) Vauxhall won't win a race this year, but will get a few podiums at best
2) Tingram gets in the title fight and Toyota persuade Gow to run another car or two to help him
3) Colin Turkington will be on TV quite a bit this year
4) Oliphant will outqualify the other two WSR BMWs more than once
5) Both Butcher and OJ will be up there fighting for wins this season
6) Neate won't last the season and will be replaced by an ex single seater driver
7) Rowbottom will beat Morgan in the championship and will get his first top 10 too
8) The VWs will do well, but HARD will have less cars than at the start
9) The title fight will be between Speedworks, Dynamics and Motorbase at least
10) Crees will be more competitive and get a few top tens and maybe even a podium

Well, it all changed a bit since writing these!

1 - Nope, sadly neither Tom or his brother 'Rom' was champion.
2 - Nope, Hamilton exceeded my expectations to be fair.
3 - Nope, although he probably should have done, and also nope
4 - Nope, this one went well!
5 - Nope, very disappointing year from BTC (although he never finished outside the top 10 for the last 5 rounds)

Haha well I did brilliantly, didn't I? 😂

1. Come on, seriously?? Big NO
2. Shockingly he did so NO
3. He didn't finish in the top 3 cos he didn't race
4. Can't remember that tbh
5. Was it great? To some extent definitely and yes, he was in the top 10

So, it's my third year of this game and year after year I'm getting worse! Just one good prediction. Scary to think about next year's predictions!

looks like all were mostly wrong

1) Plato didn't compete
2) surprinsingly no,
3) Jordan didn't compete but the rest were in title contention !!
4) partially true , he was involved in some incidents but not major accident

Check. Race 1 started with damp patches? I'm counting it!

Zinger! Called it 13 days before lockdown 1.0 but I never expected it to be so much of the season shuffled!

I'm pretty sure I predicted nothing. Which is a good thing, as my motor racing predictions are pretty much useless. Mostly.

I do however predict Prime Minister Gove is imminent.

Possibly in a #HARD Leon. Not really...
