Spaniard and favored son of telecommunications giant Telefonica, Oriol Servia may be looking to cross the Atlantic once again after CART team PPI Motorsport closed its doors this winter. Rumor abounds as Prost GP are casting about for a major sponsor and the hot-shoe and sometimes hot-headed Servia is currently without a ride.

would he evn qualify for a superlicence ???

he didnt win a indy lites race (allthough he won the championship) and didnt win in champcars last year and I have no idea what he did before that.

but if he goes to Prost then good luck to him but I doubt it because it would seem Diniz will join Alesi for next year.

Since when has a superlicense been a problem in the past? All he has to do is bring an F1 car up to speed and they'll give him one.

It would be interesting. He showed a lot of promise in Cart (bar a few really dumb mistakes). He has only spent a year in Champ cars, so maybe he can transfer his skills to the F1 arena.

I thought Telefonica were pulling out of F1 all together. I also have to believe that there are plenty of drivers ahead of Servia for the seat.

SL should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

On BBC tonight it would seem that Prost has announced that Enrique Bernoldi and Servia would have tests in the Prost thi week. Bernoldi was expected to join Sauber had Raikkonen not gained his super licence.

"Would he evn qualify for a superlicence?"

You're kidding, right? He won the Indy Lights Championship, that's an automatic qualification. Getting a podium in Champcars also qualifies....

Donnie Beechler, Paul Gentilozzi & Mark Simo qualify for superlicense!

SERVIA WILL DO VERY WELL IN F1 & WILL BE FUN TO WATCH!!!!!!!

What about Alonso?
Why would a spanish company back Servia instead of Alonso.

Isn´t Alonso the hottest ¨thing¨ outhere?
Does he even need an sponsor?!!!!!

I believe Alonso is under contract to Benetton, and will probably be seen in a Minardi next year (hopefully). All this talk of Spanish racers leads me to the question - what happened to Alfonso Garcia de Vinuesa? He had a storming season of F3000 in '87 I think it was, after appearing from nowhere and then had a terrible season with Onyx and then disappeared.

As Angst said, Alonso is now under Flavio's wing and was testing for Bennetton today at Baracalona. Hopefully he will be placed at Minardi Supertec.

Prost have decided to hire Diniz's wallet for 2001 according to Auto Action magazine.

QUOTE:

In his own statement, Alain Prost did his best to sound optimistic.
"I am delighted because I have found in Pedro Diniz and his family not only a solid business partner but also a great group of people and friends," he said. "Pedro and his father Abilio share entirely my views and ambitions on the future of Prost Grand Prix."

END QUOTE

The article makes it clear Diniz will not be driving for Prost, instead being involved with the business side. Jean Alesi is confirmed with Giorgio Pantano being "closely" considered as No2 according to the article.

Going for a Spaniard INSTEAD of Servia? Isn't Servia Spanish?

The only one I feel sorry for if Servia gets that seat is Jean Alesi. He's got Diniz in the garage and Servia as a teammate.

Glass of Water and Major Tranquilizers for Mr. Alesi if you please!

Splatz! Do you mean that Abilio Diniz doesn't think much about his son's driving?
