Andretti to Retire after Indy?
It was rumoured before, just curious what everyone's thoughts are as of this date? Personally I think he will. 2002 had him at the back of the field most of the time. I don't see why he'd want to run out his career in IRL. No matter how he felt about CART in 2002, he enjoy the CART of the past. He had stood side by side with his father praising CART's attributes before the c*ap hit the fan last year.

Liz,
I agree. It is a very good topic for the Indycar forum. Especially as it also involves giving Danny Wheldon a ride. A very similar situation at Red Bull, where Eddie Cheever is considering hanging it up and placing Alex Barron in a second/third Red Bull car. |

Well considering he did take part in 316 CART races, and at this point in time only a couple of IRL events, it is relevant, I feel.

Well said DNQ, that's why I posted it here. Like it or not Andretti is a son of CART. The fact that he would retire after a few IRL races, goes into the reasons that he left in the first place. Even as a traitor where do his true feelings lie?

I thought I met a Michael fan once.
We sat and had a beer. Turned out he was talking about Waltrip. Have yet to meet another... I don't have a problem with this topic being posted in this forum. Since being a CART regular, he has had zero starts in any other formula. The one thing I'm asking Santa for is... If Mario realizes his dream and starts his own team, I hope that's it's not under the umbrella of Michael's, as he alluded to recently. It'll pretty-much instantly become my favourite team, but it's gotta stand on its own two feet or be affiliated with N/Haas. I've never pretended to be a fan of Michael's. |
