BTCC Book Reviews

Does anyone know whether there are any books on the BTCC seasons 2001-2003? i haven't been able to find any. Also is there any from the previous seasons E.G 1994-1996?

An (Autosport) annual BTCC review started in 1991, first as a softback magazine style and then as hardback. Featured race by race reports and lots of info on teams/cars etc. They ran till end of 1999 season? (Someone is likely to prove me wrong here).

There are also 3 books which come to mind - Touring Cars by John Tipler (about 1997 and is very good - get it cheap on ebay) and Touring Cars by ? (about 1998 and not so good). Ford in Touring Car racing is also a good book, with an obvious bias towards the blue oval.

There were also several magazines dedicated to the BTCC, including a BBC mag put out once a year, plus several Touring Car specific mags (there is another thread which discusses them)

Also forgot the British Motorsport Year, which covered BTCC plus others like F3, GT etc. There was small paperback for 1994 plus hard backs for 1995,1996 & 1997.

Tons on ebay all the time, esp Autosport annuals. Tipler book is a frequent auction title also.

Just remember, ebay is addictive!

There are official BTCC reviews of the season published by Martin Nott, I have 1992, 1993 and 1994. Are these the same as the Autosport items?

The other one worth having (particularly if you also follow ETCC or are really into statistics...) is Touring Car World- Published in Italy since about 1994 and edited by Fabio Ravaioli, it doesn't have a lot in the way of descriptive text, but does have full race and championship results for a large number of touring car series worldwide (now tends to concentrate on the 2-litre ones, so excludes DTM etc) plus lots of photos (the downside is that as a small-format paperback, they're usually printed fairly small).

Book shops worth checking out are Chaters in Isleworth, Middlesex and Collectors Carbooks who have a base at Silverstone. Both has lots of new and 2nd handbooks. They also have a website each with an online catalogue(?).

Hi btcckid
I've got most of the books mentioned in this thread, I think, including:

Alain Menu's Touring Car Diary
Ford In Touring Car Racing
British Motorsport Year 1995-96
British Motorsport Year 1996-97
British Motorsport Year 1997-98
Touring Cars by John Tipler
Touring Cars by Martin Derrick
Australian Touring Car Championship by Howard/Wilson
Bathurst 1987
North American Touring Car Year 1996-1997
North American Touring Car Year 1997-1998

I went to town a little on the 'Touring Car Year' publication though. For most years the publishers released a 'standard' book and then did a limited run of 'specials' for the manufacturers or anyone else who would pay them to do so. Of these I have the following:

Touring Car Year 91 (magazine - Will Hoy on cover)
Touring Car Year 92 (Harvey)
Touring Car Year 93-94 (Winkelhock)
Touring Car Year 93-94 (Leslie)
Touring Car Year 93-94 (Menu)
Touring Car Year 94-95 (Lammers)
Touring Car Year 94-95 (Winkelhock)
Touring Car Year 94-95 (Tarquini)
Touring Car Year 94-95 (Radisich)
Touring Car Year 95-96 (Cleland)
Touring Car Year 1996-1997 (Biela)
Touring Car Year 1996-1997 (Winkelhock)
Touring Car Year 1996-1997 (Neal)
Touring Car Year 1996-1997 (Brookes)
Touring Car Year 1997-1998 (Menu)
Touring Car Year 1997-1998 (Thompson)
Touring Car Year 1998-1999 (Cleland)
Touring Car Year 1998-1999 (Radisisch)
Touring Car Year 1998-1999 (Thompson)
Touring Car Year 1998-1999 (Rustad)
Touring Car Year 1998-1999 (Rydell)
Touring Car Year 1999-2000 (Neal)
Touring Car Year 1999-2000 (Aiello)

Looking at that now, I'm really not sure why I bought all those, guess it seemed a good idea at the time!

Additionally I have all the BTCC/TOCA media guides from 1990 to 2006. So, if anyone has a copy of the 2007 edition, I might be interested at the right price.

I've got most BTCC programmes since the series started (a little thinner on that for the earlier days) through to 2005. I have complete runs of the two touring car magazines (they're at my mums house at the moment and their name escapes me) and, finally, have the 95/96, 96/97, 2001, 2003 and 2005 issues of Touring Car World by Fabrio Ravaioli.

I think it's fair to say I used to be a bit of a fan of the BTCC at one point! lol

I've got a few books for sale actually if you're looking?

The only other reviews that I am aware of are those that would have appeared in Autosport. Never heard of any in the series that we have and pretty sure they don't exist.
