2009 Forum Pick 'Em Contest - Indy 500 Pole Day

2009 Indy 500 “Pole Day” Pick ‘Em Contest
May 9, 2009

DEADLINE: Saturday, May 9, at Noon (GMT), which is 6 a.m. In “The Racing Capital of the World”

NOTE: These are for “Pole Day” only…and read them carefully.

Also, there will be a lot of cars “at speed” that will have to come back on Day Two to Qualify, because they won’t be in the Top 11 average speeds on Pole Day…This format won’t even fill four rows on Pole Day

QUALIFYING PICKS:

1. The Pole Winner: (2 pts)

2. The Pole Winner's “Average Qualifying Speed” (4-Lap Average) (2 pts.)
Carry it out to the one-thousandth place like IRL Scoring does:

NOTE: IF you get BOTH #1 and #2 Correct/Closest, add 2 "Bonus Points"

3.The Driver who will Run the “Single Fastest Qualifying Lap” (2 pts.)

4. The Actual Speed of that “Fast Lap” (2 pts.)

NOTE: IF you get BOTH #1 and #2 Correct/Closest, add 2 "Bonus Points"

5. List the Pole Winner Again, plus the OTHER TEN drivers (in order) who will earn the 11 total spots available in the Field on "Pole Day”: (2 pts for each Driver in correct spot, 1 pt. For correct Driver, but wrong spot)

ROW ONE:
1.
2.
3.

ROW TWO:
1.
2.
3.

ROW THREE:
1.
2.
3.

ROW FOUR:
1.
2.

6. Slowest “Pole Day” Qualifier To Earn a Spot on the “Pole Day” Grid -- 11th Fastest – should be the same as your “Row 4, #2” name - (2 pts.)

7. The Final Driver who gets “Bumped” from 11th Spot on Pole Day (2 pts.)
(He/she will have the 12th fastest 4-lap average on “Pole Day”)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If Saturday gets rained out, we will use these same picks for the Day Two session.

The Top 11 will be counted as normal.

The "Bump Pick" will be the 12th car on the grid.

If BOTH Saturday AND Sunday are washed out, WE WILL DO A NEW CONTEST for the Following Weekend, Just like we did two years ago

Watch the weather and the results, and if disaster strikes again for the first two days, the contest will be very different than this one.

Good Luck!!!

Hi Tim

Hey I oppsed and got my "Average Qualifying Speed" & “Single Fastest Qualifying Lap” around the wrong way.

If you can swap they around that would be great. If it's to late then OK I live with it.

I switched them, NAC...It did not affect the points either way for your or for Flyin' Ryan, who won those categories...If scored as origially written, you would have just switched results, but 2 points is 2 points.

Here are your Pole Day Results:

bruce, drdisque and Peno all had helio on the Pole for 2 pts.

NAC was closest to the 4-lap average: Actual-224.864 NAC-225.555

Alwaysfirst and Peno both had Helio for the fast lap for 2 pts.

Flyin' Ryan was closest to the Fast Lap Speed; Actual 225.405 FR-226.000

In the "Top 11," Peno NAC and bruce all had 12 pts., drdisque had 11, Alwaysfirst had 10OpenWheel & boom boom had 9 each, and drewdawg, Flyin' Ryan and Dylan14 had 8 pts.

No one had Alex Lloyd as the slowest qualifier to make the pole day field and although no one picked Mutoh for the Bump or Just Miss, bruce, Flyin' Ryan, boom boom, NAC and Peno all picked a driver who made the Top 11 to get credit for one point.

Final Results:

1. Peno - 17 pts.
2. NAC - 15 pts.
(tie) bruce - 15 pts.
4. drdisque - 13 pts.
5. Alwaysfirst - 12 pts.
6. Flyin' Ryan - 11 pts.
7. boom boom - 10 pts.
8. OpenWheel - 9 pts.
9. drewdawg - 8 pts.
(tie) Dylan14 - 8 pts.

Nice job, Peno...we couldn't be any closer at the front of the field than we are right now, with 6 people within 10 points of each other and a tie for the season championship.

I'll post the Indy Race Day contest after the field of 33 is set.

Good Luck on your 500 picks!
