Difficulties for Sandown?
Seems there is going to be a second horsetrack built on the Caulfield complex. The same people who run Caulfield, also run Sandown. It is suggested that for this work to occur, the sale of Sandown may be expedited.

If you read some of the other articles, the MRC haven't decided if they'll upgrade Sandown to take over from Caulfield as a training site.
Status quo for now at Sandown.... |

Old thread resurrection - couldn't find a later one, sorry.
The planning process on replacing Sandown with housing is ongoing, with concerns raised over potential flooding. Even if it does happen, can't help feeling that this is going to take quite a few years. Sandown could be there and available / useable for both one-horsepower racing and multi-horsepower racing for some time yet. |

"Rebel" board has been voted in at the Melbourne Racing Club. The rebels had a firm position that racing would continue at Sandown & didn't agree with the previous board's plan to see the site for housing.
So it appears that Sandown's future as a (horse) racing track is secured - what that means for the motor racing track and use remains to be seen. |
