CART Indy Lights....

so Townshend Bell dominated the Toronto race and has opened up a healthy lead on Damian Faulkner.....

1 T.Bell 104
2 D.Faulkner 85
3 D.Higgins 72
4 M.Dominguez 71
5 K.Kolby 68
6 D.Wheldon 67

although the series is struggling for numbers, the quality of the racing seems to be still OK, although an interesting thing i did pick up from the qualifying times at Toronto was that the Indy Lights were only 2 seconds quicker than the Toyota Atlantics......maybe both series should merge

noooo...dont merge them ...I like both series and want them to stay apart...lites has been a stronghold for champcars for quite a while now but this year the numbers just arent there..but the racing has been pretty good..Townsend bell should win the series easily..with really only faulkner the only challenger who is his teammate ...and matt halliday is going onlong well..I just hope he stays there for next year to capitalise on all the stuff he has learnt this year.

more cars are needed though..but there maybe changes afoot for this series in the next year or so ???

enzo should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Unfortunately, Lites will be history next year. At best, it will be run by the IRL, with a new chassis & motor - no official announcements have been made yet.

Look for Higgins to start coming on strong now that the chief engineer has finally made the decision (at least he SEEMS to have made the decision!) to get rid of certain British made equipment they have been using (sorry - I won't divulge what, or the manufacturer's name). Higgins should have had a healthy points lead by now, but the car has been garbage - his engineer likens it to playing Russian Roulette with all chambers loaded - you can't win!

That Indy Lights race was only marginally more interesting than the average F1 race. I won't miss them.

CART's current plans call for the Lights and Atlantic series to be merged into what Joe Heitzler describes as a support "super series" with funding and engines by Toyota. The IRL had been set to announce a support series if their own for 2002, but it appears that those plans are on hold until at least 2003.
