Wow!
Well, I wasn't going to bother with this meeting!
Boring, not my cup of tea - all the things I said last year when I didn't volunteer for the Oulton park Gold Cup! How wrong I was - and I don't mind saying so! I only managed to Marshal one of the three days but, what a fantastic days racing. Excellent grids, superb cars and a brilliant crew on post (Bailey Bridge) A well organised meeting that I will definately come out of retirement for next year! |

Mark, it always has been brilliant. In fact it was spectating at the Gold Cup in '03 that got me in to Marshalling in the first place. It was a fantastic weekend, even tho i did miss the Saturday due to too much "sauce" and i'm sorry to Jan / Di for that, but i think we made up for it on Sun and Mon! Fantastic fun being in the pits again, and my thanks also go to Andy & Alistair for my birthday rides in the beemer and DB9, very much appreicated.
Craig, it was a pleasure to work with you and i only hope the proban supply issue can be sorted so you can get to play some more. Glad you enjoyed yourself, and we'll see you soon! Steve |

my first gold cup this year this year. i'm not really into vinatge/classic cars so i've not bothered in the past.
it'll be the first on my list to do again next year, what a fantastic weekend (all 3 days). the racing was superb, the grids huge, and the drivers (judging by the enthusiastic waving on their warm down lap) were truly appreciative of the marshalls. david the marshall with me on saturday (@ lodge) had been spectating the gold cup since 1957, so was full of knowledge and anecdotes, so i had my own personal commentator. great weekend |

Welcome to the team CSM, make sure you get the tour with Cliff Hammond as well. I haven't got round to it myself so that's my loss, but try not to miss out.

http://www.marshalspost.com/gallery/257.html Not as many as I'd like as, for various reasons, I didn't get much time to take photos in the paddock. Spot the ten-tenthers: In the picture of the group of four marshals, second left is rumblefish, far right is davey boy. In the group of five, left to right: mazda59, Gary Heale, knickerbrook, woody61uk & KayBee. |

[edit]: hepatic has asked me to amend his post as the orginal could be misconstrued. The revised post folows:[/edit] Quote: I have some photos from the Gold Cup here http://www.hepatic.no-ip.org/gallery/goldcup05 Normally i'd only manage to get photos of the cars in paddock during lunch, but thanks to my over-indulgence with the whiskey the night before i was so ill on Saturday that i couldn't marshal. I only managed to get the strength to move half way thru the afternoon, so i manged to get a few action shots from Lodge that i'd not normally get the chance to do. I certainly won't be drinking that hard before a marshalling day again tho! Last edited by Woolley; 2 Sep 2005 at 12:34. |

Not all of the drivers bothered to wave - some were noticably not-waving, particularly a certain Autosprout editor/cum bit-racer |
