A lot of great drives and overtakes today but Max for matching the record in difficult and changing conditions. Career highlight drive for sure!

Honestly Max Verstappen might be the greatest I’ve ever seen. He’s a freak. He’s so fast in all conditions, in all situations. He is so much faster than Perez, he can adapt to any condition within a lap and doesn’t make mistakes anymore. His car doesn’t even breakdown. He’s literally unbeatable. This guy will go down as the greatest of all time, will smash every record.

Alonso easily for me. Great to see him competing with gusto back at the front again. Great overtakes and a really feisty performance that he clearly enjoyed a lot. Max, yes, dominant as always but I don't think he drove better than Fernando, bearing in mind that he has a near-perfect car under him. Kudos to Lawson for keeping it on the track when so many others failed.

Im going with Albon who all weekend has been doing things with the Williams that shouldnt be possible. Kudos also to Alonso and Lawson, plus of course Max who has to be the best driver seen in the past few decades.

Easy to call out Max, Alonso and Albon. I am going to vote Lawson given it was nearly worst case weekend for F1 debut. Dropped into FP3 in poor conditions, then qualifying and then a crazy race with experienced drivers having offs and some of them retiring. And he survived it all to drive through and not finish last.

Difficult one today, max was obviously untouchable but Alonso was brilliant today, however Albon was great all weekend so voted for him

Of course I could vote for Max because he was dominant and did everything that could be expected.
I was also very tempted to vote Lawson because he survived the most difficult F1 debut you could imagine, kept it out of the wall when other respected drivers didn't, and finished 13th in the slowest car on the grid. Based on last year's performance, I don't think DR would have done that. I might also have voted for Alex Albon because he was taking the Williams to unexpected places throughout the weekend. In the end though it had to be Fred (and not just because he is the driver closest in age to me ). Passing two cars into turn 3 on the first lap was mega. He followed it up with a scintillating drive throughout the race and overcame all the difficulties his strategist and pit crew threw at hime. |

to that point, Alonso talking about his mega first lap move. to have his level of understanding, to have accumulated this amount of experience over time while still maintaining the skill set necessary with which to take advantage of that experience is pretty special imo.
https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/a...tice/10512797/ "It was FP1 or FP2, it was wet and in one of the out-laps I let a few cars go on the normal racing line and I found a lot of grip on the inside casually, by just letting people go," Alonso revealed. "So, I kept it in my head, all the time, all the weekend, in case it was wet. "I was ready to try again and, to be honest, when we were on the grid, and the red lights were on for the start of the race, there were a lot of drops in the visor. "So, that's the worst feeling you can have because you are ready to start the race on a slick tyre and on your visor, you see that it's raining. "So, you have no idea of the grip that you will find in Turn 1 braking, or Turn 3." Alonso says he predicted everyone would take it easy on the drizzly first lap through the banked corner, especially since the top of it is bordered by more slippery advertising banners painted on the asphalt. This enabled him to pull off what he thought was worthy of "overtake of the month". Alonso continued: "So, I thought everyone would be a little bit cautious in Turn 3 with the grip level. "Also, just outside Turn 3 there is paint, so you have to be a little bit cautious there. So, I thought about the inside line, it could work and yeah, we overtook those two cars. "Definitely, that should be the overtake of the month, again. I hope." |
