Red Bull and Jaguar
Red Bull are close to a deal on buying Jaguar, according to Autosport.com. I can't fill in the details as I'm not subscribed..does anyone else have any more information?

Yes.
They're in negotiations. Red Bull say they need Ford to give the go-ahead within 2 weeks. Some suggestion Toyota may supply customer engines to the project. Drivers linked to it are Liuzzi, Klein and Coulthard. |

They can better take a Lada-engine and re-badge it Red Bull F1.
Or am I being too unfriendly here? Auto censor there for a reason.... Last edited by Super Tourer; 23 Sep 2004 at 07:41. |

Yes, you are.
If Red Bull save the team, we should thank them - whatever our opinions of the company. |

If they buy the the, they will most likely chnage the colour scheme to their corporate colours, so does this mean that we will have four cars looking the same on the grid, or will Sauber have to change their colour scheme?

I still wonder, what business brings a lemonade-factory to the pinnacle of motorsport? Can't be the USofA, most Americans don't even know Formula One is out there.

Red Bull are one of the biggest universal sponsors - everything from F-1 Off shore power boats and several Historical Aircraft and WW II. warbirds. They must sell an awful lot of fizzy drinks.

Red Bull Racing
Red bull makes energy drinks.
They have been sponsorinig as many teams and racing leagues not to mention drivers as I can remember and are very active in motorsport which is more than i can say for most sponsors nowadays. In fact I often wonder where they get so much money to sponsor so many different teams...I don't drink their drink but I have to give them credit where credit's due. If they can pump some needed cash into an F1 team so much the better for us the fans. |

I'm not surprised that Red Bull can afford to sponser so many things, judging from the price of their drinks

No, I ain't no American.
I just got a bad feeling over this. Last thing we want is a team stepping out halfway during the season, like Arrows did. Team Red Bull might have plenty of money, enthusiasm and a bit of knowledge, but for Christ sake. Look at Toyota, they're spending over $300 million a year only to be off the back of the grid. And I don't think we're waiting for another team like Minardi, only struggeling just to get that one point a season. So IMO the only positive thing about this, is that in the soul of this new team lies Jaguar. And so it also lies in Ford. Which eventually brings us back to 'good old' Ken Tyrell. How fast days go nowardays. Last edited by Super Tourer; 23 Sep 2004 at 07:39. |

We should be glad someone is stepping up. So what if it's Red Bull. Would some of you feel better if they went the way of Arrows or Prost? I don't remember hearing too many complaints about the Amer. driver search, Sauber or Klien sponsorship. They have 2 girls from California show up in an R-B painted up car at the local (partial Red Bull sponsored) cyclocross events handing out the cans to entrants. Maybe it's gonna take wings to us out of this funk.

Aren't Red Bull pushing more Americans in F1?
Who are the most likely candidates if this is the case. |

That was an offer made earlier in the year.
The current offer is still very much under discussion. |

A couple of years down the road Speed might be one of the candidates for one of the potential Red Bull team seats (if the deal goes through, of course) - he's certainly shown that he has a lot of potential this year in the European and German Formula Renault 2000 championships. Not to mention he has one helluva fitting name for a race car driver |

I can't help but think this is from 'the frying pan to fire' as it simply moves all the eggs from one basket to another.
As much as I want to see the employee's secure, etc this deal blur's the lines of ownership again - IMO car makers should be suppliers and sponsors should be sponsors and not team owners. Too many teams are over reliant on a single source of income, when it is removed there is no 'or else'. |

That quote from Parnell gives confidence the team will continue.

i think the signs are there that the team will continue, whatever its called, with them testing new things for next years car. you wouldn't do that unless you were confident you had a buyer for the team.

If it doesn't sell NOW as a going concern it's value will be slashed.
I'm sure Ford know they need a quick sale, to give enough time for the team to be on the grid with a new car next year. |

In light of Ford's pull out I can't help but see the irony in this quote from Tony Purnell...
“So, for somebody who really wants to see a brand globalised through success in F1, there couldn't be a better opportunity than there is now.” http://www.autosport.com/newsitem.asp?id=39880&s=5 |
