Ryan Briscoe in Jordan for 2005!?

When intervied yesterday on Rpm, Ryan Briscoe Let slip that he only needs a little more funds and Toyota will let him take the Toyota powered Jordan drive for 2005!

Heres to hoping there is 2 Aussies for next year!

My understanding is Ryan is part of the engine deal. The funds thing is a ruse so as not to confirm yet the deal done between Toyota and EJ.As to why the delay I don't know but more than likly has to do with current contractural arrangements.

DKGandBH has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I saw the interview...Didn't get this out of it.

They weren't talking about engine deals, just money for a years driving experience. They also didn't specify Jordan, just mentioned them along with Minardi as the pay driver teams that had a seat available.

Having said that...I hope that he does get into a car with Toyota power.

I really dont see Toyota aligning with minardi which leaves jordan, Who has always made noises about breaking up with ford. With the sale to the arabs (if this is true) there will (should) bee enough money for jordan to afford toyota power with Briscoe part of the deal to learn his racecraft.

And as you dont learn much racecraft other than being lapped in minardi's i dont see this being an option for toyota.

He will either continue to be friday tester or a jordan driver next year.

The engine deal was orriginally offered to Minardi but PS couldn't agree to some of Toyotas terms so the deal went away.EJ jumped at the chance.A driver, who has the goods, for free no more to pay.Well anyway his financial postition before the current deal was slightly worse than Minardi. Now hes sitting pretty.

i thought eddie had ford engines in 05 - a jordan toyota with ryan briscoe sounds good though - hope he does better than his short experience in f3000 in 2002

Briscoe-Jordan-Toyota. That could be a "podium-pinching" combo!

Jordan indeed as Ford engines for '05, as far as I'm aware, but Eddie keeps giving signals he's not happy with the supply from Cosworth. I don't think Ford would really care if Jordan keeps going or not with them.

Hopefully Briscoe can land the Jordan drive & gets to show F1 fans the enormous talent he possesses.

Yeh, maybe this could be the combination that brings down MS.

Was Ryan the 2003 euroF3 champion. I don't really know of him very well but did he battle with Klein in the championship because a good a driver Klein may well be I personaly belive he has steped up into f1 with not anoth experience maybe he should have driven F3000 or Champcar for maybe a season if he could of for the experience, I just wonder if Ryan Briscoe will suffer even though I believe he may well of tested for Toyota.

I think he beat Klien fairly comfortably, but he already had F3000 and F1 testing experience so he should've done.

Toyota engines would be a major coup for Jordan, as they're probably the strongest part of this year's Toyota team. It's a good job Mike Gascoyne's car for next year is likely to be better, as otherwise Toyota would be in danger of losing out to the privateers.

Ryan has a lot to learn, but the potential is definately there. As long as someone like Heidfeld or DC is leading the team, he could do quite well.

Ryan is a good driver.

I doubt he'll turn into a great one, but he'd be a solid team-mate for an experienced team leader.

I just hope he's improved from his F3000 days at Nordic - he was roughly on a par with team-mate Baumgartner.....

How about fits of laughter
Yes Ryan was the champ and he also smashed the lap record held by MS at the event in Asia for F3000 cars as well(the name of the event escapes me).

That was F3 rather than F3000.
