Royale RP26 versus RP29
Can anyone enlighten me as to the plus's and minus's of the Royale RP26 versus the RP29?
Many thanks. |

The only real differences as far as I can see is the body shape and location and number of radiators. The RP29 looks a bit more aerodynamic, and the radiators are at the rear of the pods, (I think)
The RP29 chassis is very very similar. The rear suspension I think is the same, certainly all the uprights, wishbones and radius arms are the same. The front rockers are similar, different angles to the RP26 and a simpler tubular construction (I guess a bit cheaper to make, and they do not bend through the lightening holes). The spaces on the upright post are shorter to account for the different angles. In my experience most parts are interchangeable. I have had my 26 for 16 years and thats all I have really noted on the rare occasions I bump into a RP29. RP26 is a great car to drive and really easy to work on. Makes a super first FF1600, and is eligible for the BARC Classic FF1600 championship. Hope this helps. Racedriver12 |

I have owned 27's and 30's which are the 2 litre versions of the same chassis. The roll over hoop supports are different in that the later one is supported forward whereas the earlier car is supported backwards.

Simple answer: RP26 is better. Get the later wide nosed version with (as I recall) a bigger radiator. You'll struggle to find a more user-friendly FF1600.
