Blue Flame Under McLaren

Did anyone notice the blue flame exhaust under the McLaren during the pre race on Sunday? Does this mean thay are using valve overlap( both intake and exbaust open at the same time so the exiting exhaust pulls the intake charge in quicker)Producing more power in the Mercedes engine.

Hi again art.Looks like i'm first to answer again-hope it doesn't look like i'm a know-it-all! Um ,they ALL use huge valve overlap and allways have(like for the last 50? years)-for the reason you mentioned. Also the exaust length must be tuned to this overlap. This answer is a little basic-is it what you are looking for?

RWC.
Not at all I am glad to see someone who wants to talk about race cars.Do you know if they are using megapbones to increase the exhaust gas flow? These were used on motor bikes many years ago and are still used for the same purpose.
