2cv 24hr 2009

I was really looking forward to marshalling at the Britcar 24hr (as training for a trip to La Sarthe in '10) in '09 only to find it's been cut down to 6hrs. It seems the only 24hr race in the uk this year is the 2cv race at Snetterton-any of you done this in the past and if so, is it worth a look?

Done it for the last 3 years arnie, and doing it next year.
Not only is it now Britain's only 24 hr car race, it is, probably the friendliest race there is, just ask those who were at the after race party last year.
2 CV's may not be the fastest cars you'll ever see, but there's plenty of action and a lot of laughs. It will certainly be a weekend to remember.
7-9th of August this year so, at least, it should be warm, though it's very rarely dry. I would suggest staying the Sunday night aswell, so you can join in all the post-race celebrations.

This year will be my third, It is now the second on my list to volunteer for (GP having to be done first)

As WFM says it is the friendliest meeting anywhere.

And where else can you see 5 cars side by side full opposite lock drifting round turn 1 with room enough for a rizzla paper between them and nothing else, on a damp track at dusk and no contact. They may be the slowest race cars you will see, but they do put on a great race and at the end of 24 hrs they are almost all still running. But the event comes in to its own as darkness falls, some of the drivers go to great lengths to make their cars visible, some to make theirs invisible.

Echo all those sentiments. It is a unique event that requires a certain to attend, but it is one event that EVERYONE seems to enjoy. And as White Flag Man mentioned, now it is held in August at least we know the rain will be warm . Be warned though, it is addictive, having done one you'll want to come back for more.

As the guys have said there is only one place in the country on the weekend of the 7th/8th/9th Aug for any real motorsport fan to be!

If you what to see some highly competitive racing with a combination of passion and a true enthusiastic spirit of teamwork between competitors and marshals together then the 24hr 2cv is the place to be!

See www.2cvracing.org.uk/marshals for more details of the previous 24hr 2cv events and for updates as news of this year's event become available or if you are at the Snet training day on the 25th Jan come and find me for more info!

Yes that'll be fine - just ask most of the team - they'll point you in my direction no doubt!

Best wishes,

Not sure yet if my friends are entering this year. If so I'll be in pit crewing, if not I'll be marshalling. One way or the other I will be there!
