Will McLaren's difficulties damage Raikkonen's reputation?
I think that unless McLaren sort out their car soon a lot of people will be jumping off the Kimi bandwagon myself. And before you say "He had a **** car in 2002" bear in mind that 2002 was his first year in a top team and thus people were more lenient with him. He won't get that luxury this time.

i say give him time....if the mclaren remains a s***box and they can't get it sorted out, maybe he'll prove his mettle and overdrive it to the point of wrestling some decent results...i think he has it in him to do so.....of all the pretenders to the throne so to speak i rate him the highest followed by webber and alonso.....

It won't damage his reputation - and may well enhance it.

If Kimi can do a Mark Webber with an under performing car how will that hurt his reputation. The current situation could be the biggest advantage Kimi has ever had.

Mclaren's difficulties damage Mercedes more than Kimi. Its not his fault that Ilmore yet again produced a horrible engine. Though Kimi seems to be losing his cool recently which actually is counter-productive to his cause. When JPM comes in next year and if he dominates, Kimi will be forced to look elsewhere... maybe Ferrari.

Alonso > Kimi.
That is all. |

If he is using > as "Bigger than", as opposed to "Greater than", he must be wrong, for you see, Kimi is 175 cm, where Alonso is only 171 cm tall.
Weight would do it, Kimi is 61 kg, as opposed to Alonso's 68 kg. WELL SPOTTED GOLEM! |

I think that a driver can shine in an uncompetitive car & if the McLaren happens to stay uncompetitive throughout the year then this could be the year that makes Kimi as a driver.

There's no way McLaren will be uncompetitive for the whole season anyway.

Kimi will never be able to ring the neck out of a poor car the way Schuey can, Kimi's head seems to drop when the car isn't 100%. But, Schuey has the ability to raise his game. Living legend...

Kimi's rep can be damaged only if he is beaten by DC.
Anything else will (should) go down to the car - or, to be more precise, to the engine. Quote:

Just a personal view that Alonso is quicker, out of the next gen I just feel that he's the one to watch. Last year, he flat out dusted Trulli in his first year back. Kimi did the same to Coulthard. They're both similar, and the battles over the next ten years between those two at the very least should be worth watching.
It's just my view that Alonso is a faster driver. But we'll never know until they get in the same car. (A scary prospect for any other team.) |

Everyone in the F1 paddock and beyond can see the current McLaren/Merc combo is at fault, not the driver's. So I see more damage to RonD and McLaren's reputation than Kimi's.
Who wouldn't have liked to be a fly on the wall at the recent McLaren 'crisis meeting' or Mercedes board room? |

Why should it? Kimi is a driver, not an engineer. A driver can only do so much (despite some claims to the contrary). Yes some drivers are better at communicating the car's handling and its characteristics than others but it is the engineers who must interpret words and transform drivers thoughts into engineering improvements.

I definately think people will associate a finishing position due to a car too much with the finishing position of the driver. Even the top teams who are suppose to be experts are tainted by this.
I too think Alonso's a better driver than Kimi. |

Did '96 Ferrari tarnish Michael's record?
I don't think it will do Kimi much harm unless Kimi gave up or showed a total lack of ability to compete with a less than perfect car. We'd see. |
