Congratulations: Brendon Hartley
Formula Renault Euro Cup Champion 2007
Great to see a kiwi doing well in international open-wheelers. Good luck in Macau. Keep those Red Bull boys happy and who knows where the limit is! Kiwi driver youngest to take series win |

I hope he does not follow Scot Speed or Michael Ammemmüller's steps. If Red Bull manages to give the guy more time to develop his skills maybe he will reach GP2 and F1 in a better shape.

There's little doubt about the talent, he also looks to have a handy sponsor who could take him all the way (and ring fence him from other suitors along the way?!)
As you guys have suggested it would be good for him to have a strong full season in F3 followed by GP2 in '09, not straight into GP2 next season I hope. |

Hartley has done a great job this year, he impressed me a lot. He will drive Macau this year, and was also at the Masters at Zolder (finished 4th in his first ever F3 race!), so I won't be suprised to see him in the Euroseries next year (most likely to take Buemi's seat at Mücke).

I was wrong ... Hartley just signed with Carlin for racing in British F3 in 2008.

The Red Bull connection at a guess. About time we had a decent Kiwi.

This is a major coup for Carlin and British F3 I believe. Hartley has the potential to be a real star of the sport if he continues the progress he has shown thus far in his junior career and his inclusion in the series will draw attention to it and maybe even influence a few other drivers decisions on where they race next year. He will have to learn the tracks which will place him at a slight disadvantage but if Sam Bird, Niall Breen and Sebastian Hohenthal return alongside Atte Mustonen next year we could have a hell of a strong field in 2008.
