Moto GP @ Silverstone?
It's being discussed apparently. Donington's contract is good through 2009. I suppose this could just be a move to motivate Donington to upgrade their facilities.

Let's hope it never progresses beyond the discussion stage. Donington is a vastly better track, especially for bikes, and especially for spectators.
The paddock is small, and the pitlane, despite being rebuilt, isn't great either. As for the traffic problems, Donington does need to try to remove the bottlenecks from the access roads nearest to the circuit. If they're going to leave Donington, Brands Hatch would be the better option. As you say, it's probably just a negotiating ploy; I'd expect Donington would try hard to keep their biggest race of the year. The thought of the Moto GP field going through that chicane at Woodcote... Last edited by Charlies; 16 Feb 2008 at 18:32. |

Too dangerous? |

I think Brands would need a considerable amount of investment to land Moto GP. Not sure how likely that is. I can't imagine that Silverstone would need that many upgrades in terms of rider safety. Probably just the usual infrastructure complaints.

Silverstone, Brands, Donington....all are superb.
I'd love to see the GP bikes on the full F1 circuit. |

They should race on all three IMO. We, as a country, deserve to have three MotoGP races.

hah .. ok .. 3 races in the UK (or is that just England?)
10 for Italy 15 for Spain 12 for the Aussies 7 for Japan 10 for other countries .. i wouldn't say no to such a championship .. but i'm afraid UK must settle for 1 .. their time has long passed .. |

I was joking of course.
Although I don't see how our time has passed, given we are basically the motorsport industry. But that is for another thread. |

Leave it at Donington. Silverstone in modern guise is such a bore.

I thought the Italians were the motorsports industry
Not to worry though, it has less to do with that every passing year. Looks like Russia in 2010. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/65304 |
