Yoong Montoya should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
We should see some good teammate battles for next year!

Look at the list:

SAUBER: Heidfeld Vs Frentzen
RENAULT: Trulli Vs Alonso
BAR: Villeneuve Vs Button
JAGUAR: Webber Vs Pizzonia

We should see some great teammate battles next year with lineups like these! You could also include the Williams lineup as well, but I think Montoya might wipe the floor with Ralf next year. Then again, it might be close again.

There is one danger though: I think that one or both will come out as losers in the above list. If, say, Webber beat Pizzonia convincingly, his stock will rise. Same if Pizzonia beats Webber. But if they are too evenly matched, and the car is too cr@p to allow them to shine against rival teams' drivers, then both may come out as losers and be condemned to the F1 midfield. You could apply this secnario to pretty much all of the lineups listed above.

Yeah, there'll be battles but only in qualifying. Race battles are highly unlikely cos' you don't want to end up with two cars in gravel. At least I hope there'll be some racing between the teams unlike this season.

I think Montoya will do better this year when it comes to race day. Montoya has way more raw speed than Ralf. Montoya buggered up a few races or was unlucky, that's why it was close.

That's a good point. It's far harder tell if someone's doing a good job if they don't smoke their teammate or someone else.

SAUBER: Heidfeld Vs Frentzen - Hard to call, both are very talented. I might give a 55/45 edge to Heidfeld.
RENAULT: Trulli Vs Alonso - Trulli.
BAR: Villeneuve Vs Button - JB has more talent than he's let on of late. Regardless JV will wipe the floor with him.
JAGUAR: Webber Vs Pizzonia - I don't know enough about Pizzonia. Webber was pretty impressive, and I don't mean because of the 5th place.

shaping up for some interesting stuff isnt it.

out of all of them i think the most intriging one for me would be Hiedfeld Vs Frentzen , that I dont know who would win.

Trulli has no chance against Alonso (only cause I dont rate Trulli very highly at all)

Villeneuve Vs Button will be a good one as well , but i think jacques has the ability to demoralise jenson , but whether he has the commitment for next year we will have to see.

Webber Vs Pizzonia , sorry but Webber will flog him big time.

but I could be wrong

Heidfeld and HHF will probably be one of the closest of the year. HHF will want to finish his career on a high, while Nick will want to impress team bosses for a contract in 2004... I'm guessing he's still after that McLaren drive, but if another were to magically pop-up he'd take that...

Trulli and Alonso - Trulli. He was starting to come on strong last year and if he can keep that form up then he should finally start delivering the results we've expected. But this is all based on his car staying in one piece.

JV will wipe the floor with JB.... if the car is good. JV knows he has to deliver next year if he wants any chance of staying in F1, otherwise it'll be goodbye.

Webber will beat Pizzonia comfortably.

We SHOULD see some top battles all the time, but i think we are in for yet another yawn fest in 2003. I already have my sleepin' bag ready, i even brought a new pillow for the 2003 season.

FERRARI

Har har har!! Maybe after the championship is secured for you know who!

McLAREN

Kimi will continue to improve, David has peaked...edge to Kimi.

WILLIAMS

Juan will continue to improve, Ralf is, well, Ralf. Edge to Juan.

RENAULT

Jarno will have the first half, but Fernando will match him by years end. Edge to Fernando....perhaps....

SAUBER

Nick and Heinz-Harald will be roughly evenly matched, much as Nick has been with all his team-mates.

BAR

Jacques will have the edge.

JORDAN

Fisi will win this one, doesn't matter which of the 4 others get the drive, but I do think that Taku would be closer than anyone else.

TOYOTA

This one will be pretty close, I think, once Cris makes the adjustment in driving styles.

JAGUAR

Mark at the start, but Antonio by years end.

MINARDI

???? Probably Jos.....who can say?

The midfield teams have no choice but to have their drivers race each other. There is no point in cruising around in 9th and 10th. Maclaren and Williams already do it so that battle will be good too. Ferrari, well Michael will be allowed to race the clock for fast laps, better than nothing I guess.
Renault worries me though. Their drivers may be close but I dont know if the car will be up to making the next step.

FERRARI

I'll give you three guesses.

McLAREN

Mr Dontspeakorsmile (that's Kimi)

WILLIAMS

I think Montoya will do Ralf.

RENAULT

Jarno will beat ABBA, but not by too much.

SAUBER

I reckon Frentzen will have the edge on Heidfeld. It'll be close though.

BAR

Jacques will have Button's measure.

JORDAN

Fisi by a fair way.

TOYOTA

Panis will win this slightly. daMatta will have him by year's end.

JAGUAR

Webber, but not by that much. Pizzonia will do quite well, I reckon.

MINARDI

I think it'll be Jos and Wilson and Wilson will win. Jos will collapse under the pressure of having a full fuel load.

Team mates do kind of battle in races, except they try to get ahead during pit stops. Nurburgring 2002 with the Ferrari and Sauber drivers is a good example.

Close but HHF to take it out
BAR

I think JB will do it ( only just)
JORDAN

Fisi by a fair way.

TOYOTA

Panis will win by a HUGE amont
JAGUAR

Webber to strong ( but a good willed battle it will be )
MINARDI

Jos should take this out .

I'm also looking forward to seeing Heidfeld vs Frentzen. I think that if Heidfeld outperforms HHF, some of the bigger teams may take notice. If however, HHF wins the battle over the season, IMO Heidfeld may not get a better seat.

This is definatly a make or break season for Nick imo. However, the fact that he hasn't satisfactorily beaten his 2 rookie team mates won't have gone un-noticed by the big boys already.

Yeah Mr v. Obviously the problem is that rookies are an unknown quantity to be compared with, and thats why this season is make or break for him.

Montoya is GOOD. He has a good chance at burying RSchumacher in points this coming season.

Here's hoping that RS gets with it in 2003.

Michael will have the team too far behind him.

Kimi will be able to trounce DC now that he has extra experience under his belt.

Montoya should finally leave Ralf behind the way he has threatened to.

If Trulli maintains his late-season form, he should be able to see off Alonso.

Not sure abotu Sauber, its imperative that Nick beats Frentzen but I'm not sure he's got it in him.

Whoever is in the second Jordan will struggle to match Fisichella's pace and style.

Villeneuve should be able to win the mind games and use his dominant position to outdo Jenson, but if his motivation fades he could bring the team down with him.

We'll have to see if Pizzonia can get it together in F1 better than F3000, otherwise Webber has an easy ride. It would be embarassing for F3000 if a guy who comapratively flopped in it ebats one of its stars.

I think Da Matta will be more Montoya than Zanardi, but he'll be doing well to be as consistant as Panis.

Justin Wilson, if he gets the drive, should be abel to match someone like Verstappen or Bernoldi.

Ýf he doesn't throw it ýn the gravel, býtch about bad handling, complaýn about hýs team mate and gets down to some real work for a change.

Of the others Button sadly won't stand a chance sýmply because JV wýll get all the best býts and has the use of a spare car at everey race. Poor old JB wýll be psychologýcally at a dýsadvantage before qualýfyýng!
