Calder Park SCS Round Pre Round Bits & Pieces
All V8 Supercars taking part at the Calder Park SCS round have to be in attendance on Friday afternoon to be photographed for the 'upcoming V8 Supercar Electronic Game'.
Yet another way the category is to be exploited? |

Don't care - as long as we get a decent V8 Supercar game I'll be happy. Codemasters seem to be snapping up the rights for a lot of racing series at the moment.
They have the rights to V8 Supercars and last week they obtained the rights to the German DTM series. Hopefully they will come up with a really good game engine and just start pumping out games for the different categories. I just hope they don't totally stuff it up like they did with the disappointing PC version of TOCA 2. Cheers Buck. |

Off shoot of this is that soon cars will be parked so that no one can get a clean and tidy shot of them because of 'copyright' problems...

No one would buy it, V8's don't really have a following anywhere else in the world, they'd sell maybe 110, 000 copies , Cochrane contributing maybe half of them. Really thats aboot it.

The costs will be covered by developing only one game engine or graphic engine and then just modifying it for each region.
Like what was done with Quake 2 a few years ago...first there was Quake 2, then SIN then Half-Life etc etc all using the same engine. I believe Codemasters currently have the rights to the BTCC, DTM, V8 Supercar, one of the bike series and there is also a NASCAR game on the way. Capeesh ? |

hopefully the engine will be really good and then they could release a say 4 game set with complete games of V8's, DTM, ETC and BTCC, that would be awesome. They could call it World Touring Cars 2001, then do the same next year and so on. Of course they would be all on different CD's depending on which series you wanted to compete in.

I like TOCA 2, the dynamics are excellent and the graphics are OK too. The only disappointmmnat, and it's a big one, is that in championship mode you've got to finish every round on the podium more or less to keep your seat.
I have the HRT/HSV endorsed Bathurst Touring car champions, easily the worst racing game released in over a decade. A good chess game, would actually come closer to providing a better simulation of motor racing. |

TOCA 2 is awesome.
There is a cheat thats allows you to not have to score 15 points per round, you can come 16th in both races and still move to the next round. At the enter name screen, type in "PUNCHY", and Tiff Needell will say cheat mode enabled. Everytime you load up your saved game you have to type in the password. This allows you to race the peugeots and audi's without the pressure of having to score 15 points in every meeting, which is nearly impossible in those cars. |

The thing that destroyed TOCA 2 for me was the absolutely digustingly pathetic network code on the PC version. TOCA 1 was awesome - when cars collided the sound was awesome and cars flew everywhere in peices. TOCA 2 the cars will slide off of each other even on a head on collision !
Other than that the game was ok I guess...I might have to re-install it and have another play. |

EA Sports (Electronic arts) are currently in the final stages of a full blown all race rounds V8 supercar game. EA are the people who currently have signage on Paul Romano HYL vx commodore. A fax came through at work for asking for a time to come out and take a few photos of the cars.
