It's a pretty snazzy entry list - though I'm sure it is still subject to change in the intervening time - but one major omission is apparent to me right away. Nobody is entering an Audi R8! Given that it has to be the best GT3 weapon over an endurance distance save for a 997 (or maybe a Ford GT on Spa form), that seems funny. I guess Mercedes pouring a little cash into the SLS project has helped sway some runners eg. Black Falcon.

Actually, the R8's reliability in endurance racing has been rather horrible... talk around the Nürburgring paddock is, that the structure behind the cockpit is too stock and way too soft for prolonged punishment.

Manthey Racing planned to compete with the Haribo Porsche GT3-R but has withdrawn their entry because of the balancing of performance rules. A shame, would have been a top-contender for the win for sure.

I know they had some drivetrain issues early on but I thought most of those were sorted. It seems that their biggest problem recently has been the structure anywhere on the car being way too soft to withstand being driven into many moving and stationary objects...

Huh??
Decent selection of Porsches, Merc SLS GT3s, Saker, Lambos, Lotus, Ginettas, Astons, Audis, Chevy, BMW z4s, Meganes, and a AF Corse Ferrari. Plus many more. Top entry list. First one in three years that I'll be missing. Was a great day out. |

I just saw that, looks like the entire Tuner Motorsports clan, along with all the drivers from BMW North America, even though Tommy Millner has been let go or left for some other pursuit, say his Dad's Panoz program?

there will be some web video & possibly audio commentary, although the details are still being sketched out.
Minimum will be a semi-fixed camera on the start/finish line & text updates, but it is likely there will be more (including some on-boards). Don't expect any definitive answers before the new year. |

And Tommy Milner in the other car. Hoping for a good result from Schubert. Great entrylist, a great variet of drivers and different cars from across the globe that makes the Dubai race one to watch.

Good Luck Giles, I wish BMW sold the 120D race cars here, I'm sure there's a series (Grand Am Cup) that they would be effective in.

Old Mike Waltrip is back in a Ferrari F430 GT2 for AF Corse. I sure hope he doesn't run into the Hand, Said, Auberlen, Turner, Dalla Lana BMW.

Well, the latest entry list seems to include n R8, #888.
It'll be interesting to see how Rob Barff & co get on in the little Lotus 2-11. |
