LMS Rnd 2: Spa 12-14 May 2007
The 1st round is just over but the deadline for inscriptions for Spa is already there. What happens with Zytek, will they make it on time? And RfH after their speed in Istanbul? How many starters will be there? And the ProTran and BioDiesel guys?

I anticipate also the second Works Courage LC70 and a second Radical. There should also be the Noel del Bello Porsche on the GT2 grid. |

I saw in DSC that ProTran announced their presence during some test session in the UK, however they are still not in the official list, I hope they had their paperwork done by today!!!!

GroupBio may not be a dead project either - and the guys at Lavaggi are a possible.
all new Zytek 06S will race at Spa - maybe two Shame no R10s this side of the Atlantic till LM. |

I read at Mariantic that Creation will only bring 1 car to Spa? Will RfH be there or not?

oreca saleen has already debutted this morning at 3 pm (france time) in the french GT (FFSA Super Sèrie GT). And it has won too, started in pole position, and finished first, followed by a ferrari 550 and the second saleen s7r team protek. 2 Saleen in the race, both on the podium. Amazing, my dreams are becoming truth. Tomorrow there's the second round, let's hope for a double victory with the saleen s7r oreca! |

Hello
Good news about the debut of the Oreca Saleen in the French GT rounds but almost too much to believe it will be competitive in the LMS. Still it was only a couple of years ago that the Vitaphone team were being very successful in the FIA GT and it can only be good to have a very competitive GT1 class. Aston Martin v Corvette v Saleen v Ferarri 550/575 (v Lister Storm?). Lets hope all the LMP1 & 2 machinery put up a better show at Spa. I'm looking forward to it. Nick |

I doubt the Lister will be competitive anywhere. Every team testing Saleens in Europe have proven to be very fast indeed - I'm sure Oreca can manage something pretty special with their cars at Spa.

In fact the GNM Saleens did not do bad at Spa last year (or the Saleen that was there at the 24Hs) , let's hope Oreca can indeed challenge the Aston-Vette boys. It would make for a good race!

Lister GT cars should be reasonably competitive. When they last ran in FIA GT, they scored wins and podiums--against 550s, Saleens, Vipers. Are FFSA GT rules so different that the Lister will suffer? The Saleens were fragile over longer distances so maybe they are a better bet for the French Series. Put JCW in the blue Lister and he would be in the top three. After all, Ayari is in the Saleen. I think it is more to do with drivers than the cars.

Canam - not quite sure what you mean by "when they last ran in FIA GT" - they were in it last year, and in 2004, and the results compared to previous years were pretty miserable. With a good driver lineup it will do better, but despite how fond of the car I am, I have my doubts as to weather or not it'll be competitive at all...

Anyone know if the Lister will be of 2005-spec or if there are any improvements for 2006...? The car might have done well in 2004 with a decent driver, but can it really keep up with the likes of the '06 spec 'Vette and Astons?
I guess there are one or two reasons to stay positive - afterall the Saleens have been very quick so far in Europe and look at the appauling year they had in the LMES and FIA GT in 2005... I obviously don't know the full stories etc. - my thinking was that a car over a decade old which hasn't been regularly competitive since 2003 (when the grids looked quite different, it has to be said!) would struggle against the might of the 2006 C6.R and DBR9, even in good hands. Remember, the FIA GT championship had slightly different rules to the ACO races back then, too. Don't get me wrong, though, I'd love to see Listers up at the front again - it's my favourite car. I guess we'll have to wait and see... On topic, one query I do have - now the FIA and ACO rules are supposedly alligned, what's stopping anyone entering a Lister in the LMS...? Just homologation? |

Hello,
From what I read in the press you'ed think there would be plenty of good, fast drivers around to fill up most of the seats in LMS. I can only assume that either they have their sights set on something other than sportscars (F1?) or that they would need to pay for the seat. I wonder if someone like Tom Chilton views his time in LMES as beneficial which is why he got the "Works" Vauxhall BTCC drive this year or just as an opportunity drive to do some racing. I not knocking him or anyone else, honest. Nick |

Maybe I’m wrong, but wasn’t the Portuguese Monteiro Porsche Team also confirmed for the LMS ? Any news about this ?

I seem to remember a live feed from the Spa LMES race last year which could be viewed online. Does anyone know if this will be available again this year?

I remember now, we accessed it through the official Spa Francorchamps website. It made for good live coverage used in conjunction with the live T&S. Let's hope it's up and running again this year! |

on the entry list on planetlemans for the spa 1000km it shows that there will be a zytek 06S racing so we will see whether the delays and all of zyteks hard work and time making this new hybrid will pay off and hopefully they will get a good result but i have a sneaking suspicion that they are going to win

According to Mariantic we will have 45 starters, good number but I honestly expected more (particularly in GT2). Let's hope that when the official sites update their lists we will have a couple of nice surprises.....

The entry list on the official has been updated some days ago, the Kruse Courage, the Protran, the Binnie Lola, the RfH Dome and the T2M Porsche are now on the list.
Tough I’m doubtful about the two mentioned Works Courage, the two Creations and will also be interesting if the Portuguese Chamberlain Lola will appear. Still missing is the GroupBio Lola. |
