I am looking for specialist advice and the price of second hand go kart from reliable suppliers.

Please can give me a rough estimate of a 125cc and 250cc go kart, 1 – 2 seasons old (summers)?

Can you kindly provide me with any suppliers in the UK or Europe that provides the above go karts?


I am also trying to understand, cost of powering the go karts. Can someone please highlight size of a 125cc and 250cc fuel tank, fuel consumption per min and how long each fuel tank can last?


Finally I am also looking for specialist advice on go kart maintenance. I am looking to purchase twelve 2nd hand go karts for a small leisure go kart business.

I understand that the conditions of the go karts deteriorate over time, however I am looking to stock on spare parts to replace worn components.
Based on your experience what components are likely to fail? For example, I understand tyres need to replaced frequently.

I am looking for specialist advice on rigid concrete pavement construction for go karts tracks.

What I have in mid is a sub-base, base, concrete slab, and asphalt topping.
Are these processed required for go kart tracks? If so, what are the thicknesses of each level?

I am looking for specialist advice on cheap go kart timing systems. I am looking for a management software capable of summarising racer performance i.e. lap times, positions, connectable to LCD display. Any quotation and supplier contact would be very helpful?

I am also looking for hardware i.e. transponder, decoder, loop and coax 20m cables. Can somebody please shed some light on this issue and kindly provide me with a quotation and a cheap supplier.

I am young entrepreneur looking to start a go kart business.
I have just acquired a piece of land and looking for specialist advice on track designs i.e. length and width.

I have been in contact with Selby who is a member of this forum. He has suggested that I put forward any questions I have on here.

Honestly and IMO, I would stay away from 125cc etc if your trying to start a "small leisure kart business". Too expensive, too high maintenance, lack of parity between karts/engines (dependant on maintenance of course).....almost all of your average kart tracks designed for corporate or public arrive and drive will use 4 stroke karts, sodi or Biz for example, usually fitted with Honda engines.

That said i will answer your timing question for you, you need to speak to Supersport who will sort all your timing issues and provide quotes (which will frighten the life out of you).

ok. thanks for the response. do you suggest i go for 200CC, 6.5 bhp karts. I have spoken to Biz and they have given me a rough quotation.
with regards to maintenance, they have also agreed to support the provision of spare parts which solves the parity issue.
But with your experience of go karts what specific component deteriorates excessively. I would need to stock up on these components

With regards to the land size. I am looking for a very small go kart track. I understand your concerns but I am still believing that sth could be fitting there.

The designs to which you have linked were for an indoor facility with specific requirements. Specifically the pit area wasn't included although the pit entry and exit were specified.

You have given no indication of pit, kart storage/maintanence area.
From the fact that you have included a parking area, I presume that this is the entire area to work with.

Take a look on Google Earth at a supermarket carpark and draw a 5m by 10m box which appears to be the size of your car park. Remember to leave manoeuvre room.

Sadly I have to agree that you are looking at an area that is much too small for the purpose. Again look on Google Earth, at existing circuits Knockhill, Larkhall, Crail, are the 3 nearest me, and for those you're looking at double your size plus car parking.

That sounds like a possibility, as long as you consider the speed of the karts and the safety aspects together. Also you need to consider age ranges you will be catering for. So do you require cadet on Junior kart's for under 16's?

In terms of part's that you will need to keep a high stock of, tyres are a must, track rods, bearings, stub axles, and that's just the start..... basically, you need to have everything in stock so that if any problems do occur (they will) you can fix them without taking kart's completely out of service for long periods of time.

If you are looking to do a profitable rental business, and you can keep your track length (mainly straight-away length) short, I would definately go 4-stroke instead of 2 stroke. Honda makes excelent concession engines, Briggs and Stratton, or go with one of the clone engines. They usually run anywhere from $350-$500 ea, usually have a very sound, no questions asked warranty. Modeled after the B&S Animal, very reliable, lots of low end torque. Just sayin.

I need a GOOD NAME for a go kart venue. Please any suggestions would be kindly appreciated. Please bear in mind the following when thinking of the name.
· A good kart track in sub sahara tropical African country
· There is also a small outdoor bar and grill surrounded by the go kart track.
· The name should suggest a fun, safe and new leisure sports for the town.
Please no cheesy or African/ Safari names. I need professional names. Thanks
