Just for kicks what would they call the new series....

Championship Indy Racing Series (CIRS) Formula Extreme (I know its taken) Formula Top Gun (FTG) - It's a joke, serious. International Indy Championship In the end, the name isn't as important as the marketing, and the merger itself. |

How about the "We're Not NASCAR...We're Open-Wheel" Series???
or the "Remember US" Series (note the pun there) and finally, the "Can You Pronounce the Drivers' Names" Series.... Seriously...It'll have the word "Indy" in it somewhere.... |

I think it should show what it was and where it will go.
Hmm... The (sponsor here) Indycar World Series. And I think the champion should get the Vanderbuilt Cup as it's a historic US open wheel trophy. And as for "Indy is only one race and doesn't mean that much" I disagree. But the Champcars are still called Indycars everywhere but the US. And the Indy 500 is the biggest race in the series. Champcar is a name they brought back when they couldn't use Indycar anymore and people still called them CART cars anyway. As for what the sanctioning body should be called... that's a whole nother kettle of fish. |

If they ever did unify i say forget both pasts and start a brand new series with no major influence from one particular series. thats why i think a good name would be OPEN WHEEL WORLD SERIES thats so both fans could live with it. that at least what i think

Gee there has been way to many names for it all really hasnt there.
I like Indycar and Champcar , they both have a great ring to them , I also liked CART world series. I honestly cant think of a "brand new" name for the series but something that incorporates what the series is all about and creates a stir and passion in the fans is fine by me
