F1 Qualifying??
Excuse me but.......... I thought these changes were supposed to cut down costs and increase the spectacle??
Instead, the teams have to have more personnel at a race, to do the same work but in a shorter time, and..... get less track time !!! What's wrong with the following? Friday: extra testing: No Problem Friday: 1 Hour Practice Saturday: 1 Hour Warm-up/Testing Saturday: 1 Hour Qualifying but........!!!!! Qualifying starts at 1pm but the draw for who runs when takes place at 12:30pm Each team sends a representative to the designated place to draw from the hat. Then we watch the teams qualify on a one-shot basis. Sunday: Cars released from parc-ferme at 10am Sunday: 11am 1/2 hour Warm-up Sunday: 2pm Race. Any thoughts???? |

I guess it means the extra testing on Friday might be worth just that bit extra...

It's there as one of those things to reduce the amount of viciousness in the cycle.

the friday testing is'nt extra, the teams who test on friday can only test 10 days at other tracks during the season, the friday testing makes things a whole lot cheaper.

10 days with as many cars as you want
20 days with just 1 car - as Jag do their testing generally with just one car (they say), they managed to persudea the FIA to let them have that. |

wont it make the friday teating more valuble,
making the drivers post more 'realistic' times rather than sandbagging all the way to stop the other teams getting an idea of their performance. |

i thought the idea of the friday testing was that teams could run three cars? but with the new rule changes they don't seem able to because they can only scrutineer two.

I'll miss the warm up. I enjoy getting to the track early and watching the cars on Sundays. I think this cuts down on additional travel to the track on off weeks.

Friday testing isn't scrutineered, as far as I know - they can test anything they like.

That's correct - Friday testing isn't officially part of the race weekend. You could run as many cars as you like.
