classic touring car races
why are there so few great touring car races. I mean events like Macau and Bathurst. Thre use to the 24h of spa for touring cars but now thats gone. What were the great races to win. I dont think the btcc support race for F1 counts in this.

Tourist Trophy at Silverstone was always a big race.
Possibly the old Brno ETC round (on the street circuit), and the Donnington 500. Between 1985-1993, the Wellington 500 street race in New Zealand attracted a load of European works cars as well. |

Will the Tourist Trophy name be revived for the GP support race? I feel that it could very well become a big meeting in the future.

When Group A was in its peak( in my view)in 1986 you had all the great races like the TT, 24 Hours of SPA which meant something to win them. Peter Brock & Alan Grice could come all the way from Australia and compete on European soil on "equal" footing. Without causing WW3 the more you think about it Group A seemed to be the logical choice for a world wide tin top series.Just dont mention WTC 1987
