Whats on and where this weekend??

Hi,

i was planning on going to the btcc at Snetterton this weekend but was told today by barc that theres too many marshals and so no point in me going. Where else is there racing? I know that Prescott has the vscc and theres motorbikes at pembrey, just wondering where is has something on.

thanks

Well seeing as you're at Cheltenham, Combe must be your local track and there is a meeting there on Saturday. Also events at Cadwell (BRSCC Friday to Sunday), Lydden (BARC Saturday), Oulton (JCC/EERC Saturday), Mallory (BARC Sunday), Rockingham (SCSA Sunday).

If you're keen on getting your BTCC rounds in, then keep Mondello Park in mind next year. We suffer the opposite problem to Snetterton with a scarcity of numbers, especially on the Saturdays.

Rockingham is Saturday + Sunday, although it all oval this month so incident marshals will be on pitlane monitoring/fire cover/totty spotting

Seriously, PLEASE join us at Cadwell (any day Friday to Sunday inclusive), it is going to be an awesome Radicals weekend, and they are putting on a free hog roast for Marshals on the Saturday night. What is more I can guarantee a great welcome and some exciting posts. PM Pete Howarth for details.

Too many marshals at Snetterton??? Didn't think I'd see anywhere saying that it had too many.

mr_t, May I suggest that you enjoy the pleasures of Cadwell this weekend but please come and join us at the best circuit in the East at Super Snet on the weekend of the 20th / 21st Aug for the BARC Club Meeting (same chief marshal Mike Whitney), I am fairly positive that BARC will be only too pleased to see you as will the rest of us as I'm sure that the numbers will be much less!

This meeting consists of BARC Formula Renault, MG's, BARC SE saloons and UK endurance series and possibly more. Hope to see you there.

Looking at the list in my instructions it didn't look oversubscribed and considering the problems in recent years with BARC and Snet (some Snet regulars still won't do BARC meetings) I can't believe it either. Things have greatly improved by the way. Anyway it's good to see the distance some of you are prepared to travel.

They must have had a lot of late volunteers at Snet then. My paperwork show 20 flag marshals on Sat and there are 16 flag posts. that makes only one on most of the posts.

There are 22 for Start/Pits so if thats your speciality they may be correct.

Oh well Snet's loss is Cadwell's gain. You'll enjoy it. Cadwell's a great circuit but not the easiest circuit to get to. Maybe we'll see you later in the year?

He's not kidding about the totty. I was at the 4th July meeting at Rockingham last year and on pitlane box watching duty. The FHM car had several scantily clad young ladies showing their support (and alot more besides!). As they were walking down the inner pitlane a French photographer asked them if they'd go topless, and with out a second thought one of them just whipped her bikini top off in the middle of the pitlane!

That is a hillclimb course rather than a racing circuit, which is what I was referring to.

I know a marshal who does every Snett meeting, yet he has never marshalled anywhere else. Infact he told me the only other track he has ever visited was once to Brands in 1987 and I reckon that was probably the last time he ventured out of Norfolk too, bless 'im! 'Snetmarshal', not you but your namesake - you know who I mean!

I remember it well, although I belive circuit management weren't too impressed! I did have the onerous duty at the last SCSA meeting of asking/telling two of the Spearmint Rhino (I believe it's some sort of dancing establishment) girls to refrain from smoking in the pit lane, and I did manage to address the request to their faces rather than the other parts that were on display. Tough life being a pit marshal at Rockingham....

I fear we're wandering off thread here. The topic clearly says "What's ON this week-end", not "What's OFF..."

and you never thought of your fellow marshals by asking him for a copy to be posted (somewhere appropriate, obviously not here ) for all to share???? Shame on you!
